This is a 27 years old console. Nobody cares getting extra sound channel. Let's thank, that we STILL can play it, at least.

I care and so do many other. Playing these game without extension channel would be like playing Super Mario Bros. with 2 instruments missing. But it is supported anyway and it will get more accurate with future update.

^This.

We're all hoping with the release of this new N8, KRIKzz will work the kinks out for the extra sound channels/mappers/kittehs to make the N8 the best.

N8 is already the best, and probably will remain that way.

Some of the extra pins is used by the CIC lockout chip.
You want it to use extra pins for extra features exclusive to the NES version? Wouldn't that disappoint Famicom users?
Those extra pins can not help to implement any extra functions, and nes carts does not have any extra function compare to famicom. So,magnus87, why it should be connected? Just to be connected because they exist?

There may be no games that use these extra pins. But could be games / accessories homebrew that if the advantage of these

It could be a new era for those who want to get more juice to the console

You don't seem very familiar with the technical side of the NES or the role of the pins on the cart edge connector. Every pins had a specific role, those are not magic ''do anything you want'' pins, there is nothing else anyone can do with those pins. They are not extra I/O pin like on a micro-controller that you can decide to support and do random thing with them.

IIRC, the "extra pins" in the center of the cart edge are for the unused port on the bottom of the NES.  So there's really no using them unless you plan on adding some extra hardware as well, and even then I don't know what that could be used for.  Cart expansion?  NES 32X?   :o ???

Hello!

I'm curious: has anyone tried any of my music tools on a N8?

http://nes-audio.com

I get a LOT of questions from people about this but I'm not able to tell them if my stuff is compatible with N8.

NTRQ seem to work fine. I tested the other and they all run except PR8 that apear to load and then freeze (or at least I think it is). Thing is t hat I have no idea how to use most of those music software. Cajones was making music like it should though. I guess we will have to wait for someone used to tracker software to test them and report more useful information.

Damn, you beat me to it man! Just had time to do my daily compulsive check of Retrogate to see if the NES N8 is available- and it is! Unfortunately, it's already back-ordered. I guess you ordered yours this morning, RickyKustafason?
