Possible to convert a ROM to PAL?
« on: May 17, 2016, 03:31 PM »
Question is in the title, as of now I can't play a lot of the unreleased games I want to on the N64 since most of em are USA and JAP type ROMS and due to this, my TV does not support it.

SO, anyway to convert a ROM to PAL?

How successful is this and have you used it before?

i have a N64 with RGB Mod and a CRT, i don't need to convert roms. ^^
i guess the conversions are half baked and it seems to be a compromise solution.

PALadin wasn't much use. It converted a rom into pal format, but the games still run at 60hz and still have the display issues. The results are probably the same as playing the pal version of ocarina of time master quest because that is a pal rom that runs at 60hz. I think it might have been master quest (U) I tried to convert.

I would try it with other roms though, but in my experience the display issues were still present and the games still ran faster.

That's because Master Quest is a GameCube title. Nintendo made it so that All N64 games meant to run on a gamecube have 60hz. However, regular N64 titles still can be converted.

It works to convert some roms to PAL with PALadin.

Read for example here my last entry, i did it with "Dr Mario 64":

Sell your TV and use the money (plus some more) to buy a new or used one that accepts PAL & NTSC
