importing save files...

just a quick question, obviously for Igor, because i'm assuming very few other people will be able to answer it...
i'm currently playing metroid zero mission using my EZ Flash IV while i wait for my pre-ordered Everdrive GBA, and it occurred to me that i'll no doubt prefer to keep the everdrive in my gba instead of the EZ, so would it be possible to use the game save files from the SAVER folder of the EZ and transfer them over to be used on the everdrive?

(you'll have to excuse me if this is covered somewhere, but i tried googling before i asked and found nothing)

(sorry for not being krikzz) it should work fine, I've transferred .sav files from the ez-flash and used them with other flash hardware perfectly fine.

Should work. Need to rename file with proper file extension, everdrive use .srm fo sram, .eep for eeprom, and .fla for flash

Just tried it on mine and couldnt get it to work. I may have done something wrong though.

I copied The Legend Of Zelda.sav from the EZ Flash IV and put it in the save game folder on the ED-GBA, renamed the extension to .srm and first part to match the filename of the game (as they were different on the two roms I had.) When I loaded it, it didnt see the save.

I'll try again with the exact same rom on both carts (obviously the EZ IV version is patched).

Ah - got it!
I had to make sure it had the right extension as Krikzz says above. It wasnt .srm in this case.

Not sure how to know which extension which game needs though without trial and error.

on the everdrive's game menu, press A to select the game, then select "Rom Info" from the menu... it'll give you various bits of info about the game, including the save type...

I play Golden Sun on EverDrive GBA X5 and saw my save file with .fla at end and size is 64 KB. I rename .fla to .sav then load mGBA and VisualBoyAdvance emulators show there just fine.

into

Work fine.



But I have problem with GB/GBC game:

I use emulator to play GB/GBC game and find save game at end with .srm. I rename .srm to .sav and load mGBA and VisualBoyAdvance emulators show nothing show up. I'm disappoint that emulator did not detect save file that Everdrive GBA X5 made save file. Size is 32 KB.

emulators isn't a everdrive GBA X5 problem

I means convert save between Everdrive GBA X5 and PC use GBA emulator. Because Everdrive GBA X5 and PC emulator use different save format type.

I get my save file from my Everdrive GBA X5 and put in TGB Dual "L" 1.2 emulator save folder then load game and still show up there! I'm happy to see my save file still working there in menu.

It confuse me a little bit. I find out that Everdrive GBA and PC use GBA emulator are use different save file format that is why. I glad to learn something new from different save format type.


If any new someone join on krikzz forum don't know that same like me first join in this forum and you can explain to new someone will learn to how to solve problems on save file between Everdrive GBA and PC use GBA emulator.
