WANTED - older Mega Everdrive with standard SD card slot
« on: October 23, 2016, 04:14 AM »
I would like to purchase a Mega Everdrive that has a standard SD card slot rather than a Micro SD slot. I don't want a Chinese unit since I have heard some bad things about them. So I would like to make sure I get one that is Krikzz brand. Does anyone know where I can purchase one, or would someone like to part with their own?

why not just get a new model but make sure to purchase only from trusted sellers listed on this site? then you should not get a clone.

If you're gonna spend the money to buy a Mega Everdrive in the first place, spend an extra $10 and get a 16GB micro-sd card to go with it. There is literally no benefit to owning an old model.

It sounds like you're trying to cheap out on your purchase and are worried about chinese clones. Save the money for a new model, buy legit.

The reason why I want the everdrive with standard size SD card slot is not a cost-saving measure. I simply do not like the Micro SD format. Micro SD cards are very small and difficult to manipulate and they are easy to lose. Also, I need to use an adapter any time I want to read/write a card. Whereas with standard size cards I can put them directly into my laptop. Furthermore, all of my devices that use SD cards also use standard size cards. Why would I want to introduce a new format of cards into my life if I can avoid it? It is much simpler for me to stick with a single format. If Krikzz offered the everdrive with standard-size SD card slot I would buy it from them, but they don't, so I can't.

I would disagree that there is no benefit to owning an older model because older models have standard size SD slots, which is what I want.

Other than that though, what would you say are the disadvantages of older models?

Because new models have Micro SD card slots and I want a standard size slot. That was the entire reason for me making this post.

Just stop with the wounded victim routine. Full sized SD cards are not going to happen. Shouting "But I want full-sized sd-cards!" isn't going to make it happen. I would rather they remove the larger card bay to make room for more feature rich things to be added on to the pcb.

And I'll make your search for an old Mega Everdrive easier. No legit reseller still has them. Is that clear and easy enough?

As far as what is different between new and old and why you shouldn't be trying to use/buy one anyways, here is some information that's easily available online with a quick internet search:

http://krikzz.com/pub/support/var/comparison/genesis-everdrive-compare.html

Just a quick list to clarify why there are no benefits to older models:

No Eeprom save support.
No saves without reset.
No battery saves.
No save RAM.

I do appreciate you trying to help. But please correct me if I am wrong. I believe this video shows an everdrive saving without reset while using a standard size SD Card.

Those games don't have game saves. Sonic 2, Battletoads, and Earthworm Jim do not have a game save feature. What that demonstrates is save state functionality. You are confusing the two. Saves without reset is for standard gamesaves.

Try posting a request (WTB, want to buy) in the retro marketplace section, if you are lucky someone will sell you their old Mega ED.

If he wants a Mega Everdrive V1 with a normal size SD Card, maybe he will have luck if anyone sells his V1?
