NES freezes with message "Init OS ..." when I reset

Try formatting the microSD/SD card, then copy the OS files, then copy the roms.
Worked for me.

This happens for me (not 100% of the time) but OFTEN - only if I already loaded up the SD card with stuff and then after playing some games if I take the SD card out of the Everdrive and pop it into my machine (MAC) and add/delete/modify anything THEN this crash/hang on OS Init happens.

But as previously posted if I just reformat the card and copy a clean OS folder & Romset, it's totally good again.

I just had this exact same issue. I had only just updated the OS to 1.5. Appears the card needs a format and a reinstall of the OS and ROMS each time

May be MAC users has more problem than windows users. In wors case sd card should be formatted for update. Also may try this:
1)Rename old edfc folder
2)Copy some large file to fill fragmented area of disk (10-20MB should be enough)
3)copy new edfc folder
4)Delete old edfc folder and those large file

This happened to me as soon as I added a ROM to a SD card using a Macintosh. On a Windows PC if I remove the junk Mac files the problem goes away.

Junk files are:
._rom-filename.nes   (this is a 4KB file)
.fseventsd  (Windows indicates this file is 0 bytes)
.Spotlight-V100 (Windows indicates this file is 0 bytes)
