Clone compatibility

I purchased an everdrive N8 last week.    I haven't had any issue playing on my NOAC based clone with real cartridges.   Any issues I should watch out for or things I would be be able to do?

* Save State function

What specifically makes the NOAC systems incompatible with save states?  From what I understand NOAC compatibility can also vary depending on chip manufacture so it maybe worth trying out anyway.    The product page doesn't mention anything about this nor in the FAQ section.    In the product page it just in general say that it is compatible with many famicom and NES clones, but didn't really mention any limitations

With the everdrive though at least I can store my cartidges and make some extra room.
I just used RGB CRTs for my retro console, so the AVS doesn't hold any interest for me personally.   
I was just thinking and AVS + everdrive isn't much more that than the current going rate of a NES classic which I know my sister & husband have been really wanting.

NOAC clones does not have necessarily component to handle them

saves (real carts) and save state (emulators) are two different things

AVS good to play games at nice at 720p HDMI

NOAC clones output 480i Composite

That is also a NOAC based clone, from what I understand this clones can vary wildly in their compatibility and accuracy.
All my cartridges as far as I can tell play exactly the same as they do on the original NES.   I may consider picking up a US NES or famicom later down the road as they can be upgraded to RGB.    At the the retro gaming expo I was at there was an RGB modded NES top loader and dead goodness was the picture quality awesome.   Granted though I am not sure I want to throw down $200 for the luxury.

I picked up the everdrive N8 and turbo everdrive as part of the black friday promotion.   So I still use it on my clone and see how it goes.   Doesn't look like it has shipped yet, but I hear it usually take about 20 days for them to show up in the states.

 i liked in this clone console i can use original nes controllers same as famicon av and nes-101 
not like other clones which use different plugs !

modding official NES is labor and will cost even more in the future due official NES parts not made any more

I feel like I know the answer to this, but I want to be sure:

I ordered a RetroUSB AVS and want to get an Everdrive to go with it. Since the AVS has both NES and Famicom slots, am I best off getting a Famicom ED? It will play all NES, FC, and FDS games, pus the Famicom ED handles expansion audio while the NES ED doesn't. Right?

I was under the impression both support expansion audio and that you need to modify the NES itself to enable expansion audio.   According to other uses both expansion audio and save states work fine on the avs.  The nes version fits better in the avs, if you use the famicom version the lid stays ajar.

Thanks! So when the N8 product page says: "Only Famicom can output expansion sound without modification. NES systems require modification to support this feature" — the AVS is already modified to support expansion audio, so it will work with either cart?

It would be a lot better if the cart fit neatly inside the console. I just wanted to get the "best" one. If they are the same, then NES N8 it is.
