Error 44
« on: April 20, 2013, 05:48 PM »
Hello folks,

I just got an everdrive n8 and i keep getting a sd card initialization error 44 for i start it up.

im using a Kingston sd hc 16gb card that i formatted to fat32. I tried copying over the latest Os update and that didnt work, also tried wit the first update with the same result.

Any ideas how to get it working?

I had this problem too.  I had to give my microSD card a volume label on my PC to get it to work.

Your SD card does not support SPI mode, and i pretty sure that your SD card is not a real kingston card, it must be cheap chinese fake. I say it cuz i have few such kingston cards, two sd and two micro sd. All of them show error 44 with edn8 and some other errors with oter everdrive carts, also they may not work with some cardreaders. They work only with ED64 V2 cuz ed64 use native SD mode instead of SPI

Yeah, sandisk is a good cards, but only if you bought them in some trusted place, and not on Ebay (: A lot of fakes around

So today I got my NES Evedrive and I tried an old SD 2GB Trascend card I had somewhere... and I got error 44 SD initialization. (then I tried another Lexar SD and it worked just fine...).

I guess its a fake card, or just dont support SPI as Krikzz said... so just to let you know dont try this SDs (or try it and if works plz post back!!!)
