DREAMCAST BOOTS INTO MEMORY MANAGER....why?
« on: April 06, 2017, 11:14 PM »
Hi, does anybody know why my dreamcast has started to boot into memory manager instead of running the disc?  When I go into MM the time and date are correct, so it's not the flat battery syndrome.  I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks

Tony

so you put a game in the gdrom and the dreamcast goes to the memory manager.
did you clean the laser lens with isopropanol.
is there a visual memorycard in the controller, try without.

Hi, I played it the other night, no problem.
It has an Action Replay cartridge and I use my backup discs  BUT it also happens with original games.

It could be the lid switch malfunctioning?

It sounds like the system thinks the lid is open.  Can you check to make sure there isn't anything broken?  Some part of the lid should hit a switch letting the system know the lid is shut.

The Action Replay won't boot backup discs by itself.  You still need a mod chip.  If it was working before, you probably have one.  Is it possible that one of the solder connections came loose?

dreamcast boots backups without any modification.
i dont know if it has todo with action replay.
some dreamcasts have probs with mil-cd,believe later revision.
and if it is a saturn, maybe something came loose, check the modchip solderpoints.
try also without the action replay.
