Tri-star super 8
« on: May 29, 2013, 05:26 PM »
I was thinking of getting one of these (inovation super eight) has anyone tried an everdrive n8 on it in the famicom slot. My card does not work on the generation nex. Is there a list somewhere of confirmed working clone systems. I did see a YouTube vid of the everdrive working in the famicom adapter for the pokefami dx

I can confirm that this works on my Innovation Super 8 adapter for my SNES. It's a nice addon to have for your SNES if you don't want to have your Famicom or NES hooked up to your TV. As far as the quality of the clone system, I haven't found one original game that doesn't work.
I can confirm so far that these NES\Famicom games work with the Super 8 without issue:
  • Super Mario Bros. \ Duck Hunt
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tengen Pac-Man (gray case)
  • Mario Bros. Arcade Classics Series (5-screw)
  • Donkey Kong Classics
  • Nintendo Tetris
  • Othello
  • Caesar's Palace
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II
  • Home Alone
  • Dr. Mario
  • The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout
  • The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle
  • Duck Tales
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
  • Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
  • Road Runner
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II The Arcade Game
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III The Manhattan Project
  • Gryomite
  • Metroid
  • Galaga
  • Rad Racer
  • Rad Racer II
  • Akumajou Densetsu
  • Space Invaders
  • Life Force
  • Kirby's Adventure
  • Pinball
  • Back to the Future
  • Back to the Future Part II & III
  • Super Off Road
  • Rockman 6 in 1 Famicom pirate
  • Contra
  • Super C
  • Contra Force
  • Mega Man 1 - 6
  • Jeopardy 25th Anniversary Edition
  • Game Genie

Every game that works with the Everdrive N8 should work fine with the Super 8 as well. I know that MMC5 isn't supported at the moment on the Everdrive N8, but you can actually play Castlevania III, if you have the original cart, on the Super 8. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, but it should help as a reference.

No problem! Glad I could help. Here's a video of my Super 8 and Everdrive N8 running Akumajou Densetsu translated to English. I apologize for the bad audio quality. It was recorded with my iPhone 4S.

Glad to hear that it works well! I bought a Famicom to NES adapter too in case I want to play my Everdrive N8 on my NES and it works great! Expansion audio doesn't work without a mod on the NES and expansion audio doesn't work out of the NES port on the Super 8. I had to salvage a cheap Famicom pirate shell to fit my Everdrive N8 into temporarily until I can build a better shell. I just need to get a dremel for properly cutting my case, a set of grips for opening the case, and a nice label design for the label. I'm debating on whether I should use a clear Salamander case to show the circuitry. It would be a neat design.
