Replacing pin connector for sega master system?
« on: November 23, 2017, 03:34 AM »
Just wondering how I would replace the pin connector and which one i should look for?
Do I need to solder it in? I got a cheep soldering iron from radio shack back in the day. The one that takes a long time to heat up, it also came with a de-soldering thing. I gotta ask my buddy from work if I can borrow his weller one. I have the long sms if that helps

Is this it? It doesn't have the to wings to screw it in. thou it's third party i think.

Would this work also?

I dought that will work thou.

I don't know what happen. Went to try it one day and pins at the end are damaged.

You should use the Tototek one.
If you have zero experience desoldering components then you could end up destroying the SMS circuit board, proceed carefully.

alright ill get that one. It just doesn't have the screw flaps. I guess it doesn't matter if it's getting soldered in anyways.
I will be very carful. I used the desoldering thing to fix my headphones before. long time ago. This is going to be more time consuming thou. I hope I do it thou. It's a mastersystem with a bult in game and still has the card slot. So i can get something for it if i fail.

That could work but what if the console also has the slot damaged?

The 4 they have listed seem to be original but they don't have stock.

Well I got mad and I got needle nose and crunched it from the plastic to metal sides then used brute force. worked. I got one problem for some reason I unsoldered the card slot by mistake. Total brain fart I noticed after i unsoldered a couple. cleaned it soldered it back. noticed that one was a blob so I unsoldered it then solder it back but it wouldn't solder back. I think I snaped the pin some how. Ohh well no card slot I hope the sms isn't effected cuz of this.
