Krikzz I just want to say thank you for your hard work and dedication it's much appreciated. Your flash carts truely are masterpieces and your contributions to retro gaming on original hardware is simply incredible.

To everyone complaining on this thread, please have respect that this kind of development takes time and life happens. Also the complexity of this major update I'm sure is something far beyond the average user's understanding, we need to just have some patience. It will come when it comes and when it does we can all celebrate in its glory. Until then let's just be happy it's coming at all! =)

Get everyone excited and now nothing?    Seems like it's been abandoned?

We all get excited for stuff, but please don't forget that Krikzz gives us these updates for FREE.  He could make a new expensive hardware version and most people would have been okay with that...but instead he's releasing it as a free software update for all existing users.

Take your time Krikzz!  No rush.

What does "RC1" means?

RC1 means "Release Candidate 1".  In software programming, "release candidates" are builds of the end product that are generally considered stable enough to release to consumers.  There may still be bugs, but typically speaking, there shouldn't be any major ones.

So will there be another update or is this it until he decides to do another update in the future.

i just tried out the new update and its just terrible.  glitches on the main menu, games crashing within 1 minute of starting it and the expansion audio is still messed up, at least for my modded front loader.  i tried akumajou densetsu and gimmick!, both crashed almost instantly and had graphical glitches also.
i turned on the save states in the menu before starting any games.
using a hi-def nes if that makes a difference.

First of all, thank you Krikzz for this update. The EDN8 is the reason I got a Famicom a couple years ago.

My hardware: AV Famicom without any mods, EDN8 Famicom Edition + Kingston SD card. Formated the SD card (FAT32 with 32KB cluster size) and copied the OS folder and after that the roms. I disabled ROM sorting in the menu.

I tried Castlevania III J+Eng up until level 2 and it worked fine, including save states. Mr. Gimmick also works perfectly, same with Doki Doki Panic. The volume control settings are very much appreciated. I turned the volume for FDS games to 72%, the rest is fine at 100%.

Reseting to the menu doesn't work in RC1 for me. It shows "OS init..." and then goes to a black screen. Works fine after a hard reset of the console.
Fixed with a different FAT cluster size.

did you delete your old EDFC. a disk game didn't work when i just dumped and renamed the files in the old one. I deleted it and put a fresh one now works better now going to try castlevania 3. edit works fine with audio.
if that doesn't work try formating your sd card and loading your files again.
Im using a avs thou.
Is there any other files i should add in edfc?

I really have to say THANK YOU for the FDS disk flip solution.  It works perfectly.  If you want to hear the full intro, just hold onto select as you boot up the game and don't let go.  When you've seen enough, you just release the select button and after a short while the disk flip will happen as expected.

One can now see/hear the full intro to all FDS games, or if one doesn't care, they can just boot the game from the main menu and not hold select.

Audio wise, I'm not really noticing much different.  My NES has a Kevtris HDMI mod in there so i don't know if the ED OS expansion audio is even used?
