I do not have any subdirectory with more than 129 files.

Using a 32K cluster size does not help.

Sometimes reset to menu might not get me back to the menu, just a black screen.

Hello, since installing any of the Beta or RC versions, I have had this error occur on loading points in Zelda II.

https://clips.twitch.tv/AnnoyingRespectfulQueleaCharlietheUnicorn

It pops up and said A B SIDE ERR 07

It did not do this on the last stable release. Must be something changed in FDS code somewhere that causes this.

Please read the last few pages of the thread.  This has been discussed, and answered, countless times.

Alright, but I'm not holding SELECT, these aren't even points where the disk is meant to be flipped, it seems to be random when/where it does it. I obviously am aware it goes away, but this basically makes my Everdrive unusable for FDS speedruns. This is a serious issue that wasn't present before these v20 Betas and RCs. I would, however like to have working FDS audio finally. I'm not even using the thing the posts you pointed at blame for the error. So as far as I am concerned, this has not been answered suitably any times. And always in reference to Zelda 1, which is not the game I am even playing.

Here's a few comparisons from Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa between original FDS hardware and the Everdrive N8 with v20 RC1 that I made.

1-1 music (this sounds fine to me)
FDS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsWbAH1G-xA&feature=youtu.be
N8 v20 RC1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IicApdKnff0&feature=youtu.be

Power up music (this sounds wrong)
FDS: https://youtu.be/qa069H1jG9I
N8 v20 RC1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3DVxlqxA8Q&feature=youtu.be

Boss music (this sounds wrong)
FDS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lslo8PewVUg&feature=youtu.be
N8 v20 RC1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3C2mUquL44&feature=youtu.be

N8 v20 RC1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3C2mUquL44&feature=youtu.be

I think that MIGHT be  slighly different (bassline, maybe?), but we are definitely way closer to the original than a couple of years ago. I may be lo-fi but I'm content just as it is.

Did you really listen to the audio all the way to the end for the boss music? The difference is very, very big.

I agree with you that it’s an improvement! :) Just hoping providing some feedback helps to make it perfect. If not I’ll stick to an FDSSTICK.

Sorry if this has been covered, but have not seen it.
Setup background: running the famicom version of the N8 on an AVS

With v16 had a lot of seemingly random video noise (random lines, etc) Looking around it seems this is a known issue with AVS. I updated to V20 RC1 to see if this has been cleared up, which it seemingly has, the few games I have tested seem to be free of the aforementioned 'noise' So thanks to Krikzz for all your hard work on that, and everything else you do for the community.

Onto my current issue, when I load any rom (on the initial load) the n8 freezes on the loading screen, with the n8 red access light staying on solid. If I hard reset then hit the 'start' button to load the last rom the game loads fine every time.

Hope this makes sense, if I need more details, etc. please let me know, this behavior never occurred before.

I use an AVS as well. I have not had this problem. I'm running the final 1.30 AVS firmware with the NES version of the N8.

Thanks for confirmation on this, I just did a full format with the largest allocation size, and it appears to have fixed this issue.

Save state does not work on Uncharted Waters. But the fact the game runs at all is a miracle.

Reason that I can conclude as I got an error after doing the save state and load a few times is that Uncharted Waters must have something in that code that can detect whether or not something should be there. Might also explain why there is no Game Genie codes either. I took a picture of it. Resetting the unit doesn't work either as when I tried to load a save state(thereby resetting the memory), the game glitched up and did random things, like going from port to sailing on the ocean, to be involved in a card game.

I tryed today with a 4gb sdcard instead of my 4gb micro sdcard, same result.
I have no time to make today a video off it,errors out with error 63 while browse the roms or to change dirs.
I just copied the smokemonsters n8 pack in a rom dir and the edfc dir to my sdcard(root).
Formated as fat32 and 32kb clustersize and the brand is lexar(sdhc).
That same setup is working perfekt on v16 of the nes os,so it must be something with the os that changed.
What is changed is not for me,also the n8 working fine on my second nes.
I will try to make a video tuesday when i having more time then.
So krikkz,i will make that video and hopefully you have a clue whats gonig wrong with it.

The peaple who have problem with newer firmware.
Are you sure your cart isn't fake? Cause i hear v14 firmware was on the fake carts and fake carts don't go well with higher firmware.
If it's real and you got it from a real seller you should of exchanged it when you had the chance.

I'm really excited for this firmware.

Can you imagine a perfect FDS emulation and all the mappers supported?

Thank you Krikzz for a firmware with 98% of this accomplished.
Take your time and, please, don't give up :))
