How does FDS work with this?
« on: August 10, 2018, 11:06 AM »
If I want to play a FDS game, do I need the actual FDS system? I assumed it was just a disk reader and the image will still load and play with the standard NES hardware, sans the expansion audio...

The games play directly off the SD card. However, the FDS sound, while supported when played on a Famicom, isn't 100% accurate. As far as I know, the games should still load on a standard NES, but won't play the extra sound channels. Some games barely use the FDS sound (SMB2J only uses it for the ending song) and some don't use it at all.
