If this has already been covered please let me know. I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer.

I have noticed that the hotkey/ savestate menu comes up immediately during regular gameplay.
But for some reason it is completely unresponsive when there is a death/game over/other type of transition screen. I end up having to wait for the player to become playable again
Is there any reason for this?

Tried this on multiple games
Trying to practice a strat using save states and not being able to load the state again or access the menu for 10-20 seconds (depending) is highly frustrating.

Using N8 Pro on frontloader NES with Analog hookup on Samsung CRT TV.

Thanks,
ExNihilo

I'm guessing it's that the game disables input reading during those times, so the key combination doesn't work. I think manual FDS swapping with a key combo has the same issue - a lot of games disable inputs during the swap, according to KRIKzz.

In-game menu does not work if game does not read controllers or turn off vblank interrupt.

Got it. Shame there isn't a workaround for this huge time waster.
Still a great piece of hardware!

Thanks!
