Master Everdrive 0xD2 and 0xD4 backing up save RAM
« on: August 04, 2018, 02:58 AM »
Whenever I try to load a new ROM it gets stuck at the backing up save RAM stage and throws up errors 0xD4 and 0xD2 and leaving me on a screen that says "There are no files", however I can load whatever is in memory. Is there a way to flush the memory on the ED so it stops attempting this save back up that is failing each time?

If I use the reserve OS (v4) I can flash new ROMs and create new save backups (worked with Phantasy Star) but whenever I attempt to use the latest OS (v9) I get the same errors. I haven't had any problems with v9 up until now so I am a bit puzzled as to what caused this.

After a lot of trial and error, it seems my SD cards are the ones throwing up this error (I've only ever used small capacity SD cards with this Everdrive) but having tried a larger capacity SDHC card it seems I am out of the woods and all is fine again.

Maybe this will help someone googling these error codes in the future!

What size SDHC we talking here? I have an issue with my OG Master Everdrive but havent got replies to my thread, seems the forum is dead. Quite a few users starting threads and then replying to themselves. Wondering if your fix would work with me despite it being different error codes.

My issue;
CPLD Version: 2
OS Version: 8
Max Dir Size: 512
Cart Type: SMS
Asm Date: 23.10.2014

I have the original Master Everdrive and for some reason it no longer seems to work.
I have tried to upgrade to OS 9 but that does not work.
I have tried to do the safety OS revert (hold UP+1+2) and that doesnt work.(I tried other directions in the hold too)
When trying to load a rom it doesnt get past the "erase" state.
I have had error codes 0XD3, 0XF0.
I have been trying on a Power base converter on the OG Mega Drive, would this cause any issue at all?
I have tried 3 different SD cards, I even managed to find a low capacity 1GB version. The other ones I tried were 8GB, should I buy a much larger and faster card?

I was thinking even if there was a basic setup tutorial I could try and "start fresh" but there is very little information out there about the Master Everdrive in that regard.

I finally had enough and got up into the attic and dug out my Master System and everything works fine using that. It is a simple case of the Power base converter not actually being compatable for anyonee in future looking at this.
