SMS Game Issue (Blank Screen)

I'm having a bit of an issue, possibly with the MegaEverdrive. When I load a SMS game, the audio plays, and you can 'play' it. However the screen always remains blank. I ran the diagnostics and everything returned as 'ok.' Genesis games run fine, no issues at all. I should also note that I previously had no issues playing SMS games in the same way. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

Console: Genesis Model 1
Cart: MegaEverdrive X7

Console isn't modded, I do have a model 2 CD attached though. This takes place with any SMS game I try.

try removing cd unit from genesis system

SMS games can have either video modes 0-3 or 4. Only video mode 4 (the most common one used for SMS games) is supported by the Genesis' VDP.

This mostly affects compatibility with Taiwanese, Korean or SG-1000 games. The only official SMS game I know of that is incompatible with the Genesis' VDP is F-16 Fighter (also known as F-16 Fighting Falcon).

When you run games that are incompatible with the Genesis' VDP, the behaviour is as you described. You can hear and play the game but the screen remains black.

I removed the CD unit, but that didn't change anything unfortunately. I tried a few games that are known to work (X-Men Mojo World, Phantasy Star) still to no avail.

I don't think the tv is the issue. The signal from the console appears to be picked up on the upscaler (ossc) but gives my both a red and green light. Maybe there is something wrong with the everdrive cart?
