snes mini plays everything,no flash carts no extra scarts-components cables  no upscalers no pixelized image in tft tv no crt tv(crt filter) etc
i know its an emulator but it has the authentic feel/look and that matters most.

I see. Some people think that X5 is a downgrade version of V.2. It's true if judged by the number of chips supported.

In my opinion. I do not want to pay more for playing games I never paid attention to it (Starfox, Majohng thing, ...). I'm glad the game I like is not on the forbidden list. Although there are some games that do not play But it was only a few bucks if I want (Super Mario Kart is just around $8 for a complete box version). Some of them I'm already  have it's box version in my collection (Kirby, RockmanX3...).

Super Everdrive v.2 (with DSP support) is my best choice but In this situation, I chose X5.

Super EverDrive X5 is not perfect.
If one needs perfect there is SD2SNES.
But Super EverDrive X5 is the most optimal.

you could go with Super NT with JB FW for no hassle route

only handful bought with DSP chip installed

Super Everdrive v.2 $85 USD
Super Everdrive v.2 (with DSP chip installed)  $105 USD
SD2SNES $197 USD
Super Everdrive X5 $89 USD

Of course it has to release right after I finally buy a Super ED DSP...but if the compatability is lower, I guess I don't really need one...hmm...

Does the X5 at leave have an empty spot to solder your own real DSP-1 chip, like the old v2 without DSP? It's kind of a bummer to see DSP games dropped from the everdrive compatibility, even if most people weren't buying the DSP version.

So just to double check, the X5 does NOT run Mario Kart?
Geesh, I don't wanna pay an extra $120 for the SD2SNES just to play a single game...

It would not be a single game, aside all the DSP1/2/3/4 games you also get CX4, OBC-1, ST010, S-RTC, SuperFX/FX2 and SA-1.

With the SD2SNES this is the list of still incompatible games:

btw S-DD1 seems to be around the corner if you care

You are correct, it doesn't run Super Mario Kart.
Now, if that's the only special chip game you want to play then it doesn't make sense to spend the $120 extra.
You're better off just buying a Super Everdrive and a copy of Super mario kart, perhaps even the japanese version which is way cheaper.
We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.

Is this true ?  The x5 does not have a spot to put a DSP-1 chip like the v2 ?

Trying to keep this in a budget and the SD2SNES or pro is just too expensive right now.

I have access to buy a x5 or v2 for about the same price but, if I can add a DSP-1 to the v2 but, CANT on the X5, it would seem the v2 would be the better buy.

Is there other games that the x5 can play that the v2 cant ?

Thanks in advance.
