Fitting SD2SNES PRO into a proper NA case
« on: May 05, 2019, 06:37 AM »
I'm in North America so the cart shape that my SD2SNES PRO came in is unfamiliar. Er, I mean wrong. Hopefully it doesn't infect my SNES with 50Hz cooties. I figured I could move the PCB to a proper case but it didn't fit. My PCB is Rev B. What's going on here?

It's a universal shell. It was also a known issue before the cart went on sale that the PCB wouldn't fit into a North American shell, and that it would be fixed in the second production batch. I believe that has started, but it's not in stock at any resellers yet.

No 50 Hz cooties. NTSC-J and PAL both use the round shell, so it's actually the NTSC-U/C shell that is the odd one and won't fit in any other systems without major modifications on the system's case. The round shell just needs two indentions in the lower back corners to fit in an NTSC-U/C system (or remove the tabs in the system).

The universal case isn't for me. I'll return it and wait for the PCB rev bump. Thanks for the info.

Also, I won't be posting here again since it's too difficult to get through these captchas. Every. Single. Post. Bleh.

Must be a mobile thing. Doesn't happen on a desktop browser.

You can use a Dremel to cut the PCB, it's just the corners. :P

When you're trying to do a project right, you should never cut corners.  ;)
