How do you properly set up Snes9X Alpha?
« on: January 29, 2019, 11:11 PM »
I downloaded Snes9x Alpha, I know it barely runs but I want to try it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jp3ZJ2qGIM

How do I organize the emulator and ROM on the SD card to make it work? Anyone have experience with this?

I know how to do it, because I've done it many times, but you need the Dosbox 0.74 to do this operation:

When you are inside Dosbox, you have to mount the unit:

type this, for example:

"mount C: C:\snes" <--- (your snes9x alpha folder, and don't forget put a rom on this folder) and press "Enter"

then type "C:" and press "Enter"

Now type this command:

linkrom snes9x.v64 "your snes rom (but only less than 8 characters, otherwise you need rename rom file)" and press "Enter"

for example:

"linkrom snes9x.v64 mario.smc"

"linkrom snes9x.v64 donkey1.smc"

and that's it, just copy to SD memory and try to run the rom linked on your everdrive 64.

I hope this works, but is very slow and no sound, I don't recommend you to use it.

Unfortunately, there isn't other Snes emulator for N64 that can run at 100% speed.

Well have a nice day, Greetings.

Thank you, it worked!

Is it possible to link multiple ROM files or just one at a time? So if I want to link multiple ROMs I need to duplicate the emulator and put one emulator with every ROM I want to run?

No, just one at a time, but I recommend you do the backup of the "Snes9x.v64" rom to do the same operation with another game.

I did 7 SNES games to test on N64 with everdrive 64:

Donkey Kong Country.v64
Donkey Kong Country 2.v64
Donkey Kong Country 3.v64
Killer Instinct.v64
SNES Burn-In Test Cart.v64
Super Mario World.v64
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.v64

I recommend using Snes9x GX on Wii. It's the near perfect SNES emulator.
