GBA X7 (2019)
« on: February 14, 2019, 02:13 AM »
Hey there,

Now that it's 2019 I was wondering if you had any plans to create a X7 version for the GBA?

Krikzz reply was to a tweet that specifically asked about the GBA not the SNES.

An X7 for either is dumb.  He really needs to start investigating the disc-based systems, that's the future.

The only thing that could do well for the X7 is it had the capacity to play Super Nintendo games. As the in development SD2SNES Pro will apparently play Super Gameboy games with an accurate clock which is a step up above the rest the X7 GBA Everdrive could do the same but play SNES games.

I mean I am working on improving SNESAdvance but still...

Dude, no. Everyone's so weirdly demanding for emulation lately — which I can't understand in the least because as far as I'm concerned the whole point of using flash carts is to avoid unnecessary emulation.

Now as for a possible X7, it's got to do one thing and one thing only to grab my interest: be the same size as a standard GBA cart.

That hump may be acceptable with some console versions, but it looks and feels like crap on the Micro. I don't care if an X7 picks up save states or any other new feature — if it's still the same size as the X5, it's not getting a second look.

2 others improvements would be :
- solar sensor for the Boktai série,
- motion sensor for Yoshi Topsy-Turvy/Yoshis Universal Gravitation and Wario Ware: Twisted!

Possibly some kind of save state system.

The only reason an X7 might stick out like an X5 is they actually added motion control/rumble (like Yoshi Topsy Turvey, or Drill Dozer), or the solar sensor for boktai games. The reason those games 'stick out' is because rumble, or motion sensor needed a place to be, or light sensor needed a place exposed to the sun.

It would actually make more sense to redesign the X5 in a smaller form factor but lack motion/rumble, and light sensor.

GBA. Cannot. Emulate. Snes. Decently.

Why would you want to play games with 2 less buttons, no audio, and 2/5 of the screen resolution?

If you want to play Snes on the go, there are HUNDREDS of chinese android handleds that can do that for a few tens of euros.

Because it looks awesome on an AGS-101 screen and also shows how well the GBA could play SNES games. I'm all for a upgrade over SNESAdvance if possible though if not I'm satisfied with how well SNESAdvance works especially if time and effort is put into improving the graphics.
