Hello, I have bought an SD2SNES Revision F last year from Retrogate which I have upgraded with the latest mods for MSU volume fix.

I have upgraded to firmware 1.9.0 and my DBZ HD hangs just before the characters appear, Black screen with music playing.

I have recommended the SD2SNES to a friend, he brings it to me, I used my sd card on his device, and the game is working.

I have done the test framrework and attached the log here.

Am I missing something ? Is there any SA-1 incompatibility with older revisions ?

Best regards

No it's NTSC US Snes JR.

EDIT : I could enter the fight but it hangs anyway after few seconds after the battle begins.

I will test this out when I get home. Hyper Dimension is a great game, and I wanted to try the English translation (I have the original Japanese cart). Hopefully it works!

The only issue if you had the PAL Europe SNES would be the audio repeating for dialogue. There is no confirmed blackouts when playing it at 50HZ.

I have two snes and tested with two SD2SNES

Only one gives me that problem with both consoles.

My guess is there is a specific problem with this unit related to some games that lead to freeze.

I have read many threads relating to SRAM problem but I can't be 100% sure.

I've done Borti's mod but I'm not sure it's the problem there.

EDIT : I have downgraded to 1.8 and it works well with SA-1 v05 beta files from Redguy's thread. 1.9 seem to break things to my specific device (or revision F). No problem with newest revision. Seems like I have something different with my SD2SNES which makes it incompatible with 1.9 and some SA-1 games. I have seen the same problem in Megaman X patched versions before. I thought everyone has the same problems but the behaviour seem different from a device to another.

Anyone has the same problem here ?

This firmware found in another thread solved my problem.

https://www.reddit.com/r/snes/comments/a76h0t/sd2snes_official_firmware_v190_with_sa1_support/

But this is still puzzling me that the official one doesn't work on this cart, being not alone would help, can you please also upload your test.log file ?

I think it would be easier for ikari_01 to take a look on this for future releases.

the modified 1.9.0 firmware in the link I attached there works on my device, I guess ikari_01 can find out easily what differences keep our carts from working properly

Yes this unofficial firmware works for me.

The official 1.10 is out and still not working correctly for Revision F.

Just curious Archimage but is your SNES Jr. modded for RGB and or S-video and are you playing it on the Framemeister?

Also via SD2SNES from it's menu do you have in game hooks turned on or off and any other weird, wacky and wild menu settings we/ikari/redguyyy should know about???

Oh yeah your log file should probably give them all they need to know but I felt I'd ask anyway.  :P

Yes the Snes JR is RGB modded, but I also have Snes Pal 1-Chip which is untouched.

On both Snes :  Rev H. SD2SNES worked fine with the latest firmware, but the Rev F. didn't

I have a CRT and LCD + Framemeister setup, same result on both.

Tried on all the SD2SNES with same SD card Rev. F always fail with official firmware but work with the patched firmware.

I think there's something in the firmware that breaks the game for specific minor hardware changes between units.

interesting that on same revision some people have problems and others don't, can you please attach your test log file ?

Phalanx please attach a test log so different samples can help to study that case.
