SD2SNES PRO Video Problems
« on: April 15, 2019, 04:15 AM »
Once I choose a game from the SD2SNES main menu the game starts but the video breaks up, comes back and breaks up again making games unplayable. This is constant behavior and with each game I tried. Its almost as if I'm loosing signal like a snowy screen intermittently. This does not usually happen in the main menu, nor does it happen with original cartridges. I've tried this on various monitors CRT and LCD through composite. Also I sometimes loose color in game and on main menu on one of my monitors, but have color from other sources. Any ideas before I return the SD2SNES to AMAZON. It is an original KRIKzz SD2SNES PRO. Thanks.

I did use the link from the krikzz.com store that directs you to Amazon for purchase. The seller says "by EVERDRIVE", but again this is where I was directed from krikzz store, so I do believe that it is a genuine product. I don't think that Krikzz would be directing people to bogus product. Any other ideas?

Could you please show your console and SD2SNES?
Do you use the standard power supply?
Where did you get your ROMs?

To be sure you buy from us you must follow the Amazon link on the product page in our store only.
And make sure you are buying from us and not from some 3rd party.

I actually had exactly this issue as well.  Had a friend bring his SNES over and it worked perfectly there, swapped his power brick to my SNES and it worked perfectly.  My power brick with his SNES failed quickly again.  I bet your power brick is going bad/gone bad.  A quick way I confirmed this is I played a super fx chip based game (happen to have a star fox cart), and it also cuts out/fails.

I double checked and confirmed that the purchase is from the store link. I was able to try another power adapter, but still had the same problems. I will try and see if I can get my hands on another snes that I can try the SD2SNES Pro on.

The item I purchased does say sold by krikzz and if I click on krikzz on my Amazon order page which is an active link it takes me to the exact page you sited above. So it does say sold by krikzz and as I stated previously I did follow the amazon link on the krikzz.com site to make the purchase. If you click on any of the items on the above link some say by krikzz and others say by Everdrive, I suppose both are valid. I should be able to get my hands on another SNES in a day or 2 and try the cartridge on that. Even though I believe the cartridge is legit, I will be sending it back to Amazon if it fails to fuction properly on the second SNES.

If you are in the US, in the future, only purchase from Stoneage gamer, or from Amazon using the links from Krikzz's website:

https://krikzz.com/store/content/6-dealers

If you are in another country, use a link that is close to you.

I don't know who "Everdrive" is on Amazon, but that is a 3rd party. At best, it is real, but you are likely paying for a mark up. At worst, you wind up with a knock off passed off as the real thing. (That said... not sure if the pro version has been cloned yet....).

(If you did use the link from Krikzz's site, it should be okay)

Yes I did use the link from Krikzz site and as I said my item did indicate sold by Krikzz. Last week when I ordered there were a few units from Krikzz, if you go to Amazon.com this week it states only available through 3rd party. In any case by Amazons policy I have till May 15 to return the unit. I will test it on another SNES and go from there. As far as price at the time it was priced only slightly higher than Krikzz price with free prime shipping, now the price has gone up on Amazon and is much more than I paid.

Maybe it's a problem with the sd card that you are using. Have you tried another sd card? Have you tried formatting the sd card to see if that helps?

I have tried a couple of different SD cards and I may have a few others I can try. All of the responses from users are quite valid. I am thankful for all the suggestions from everyone, as the problem and the solution can be almost anything.

I think there is a little misunderstanding "By Krikzz" is not a seller but a brand, think it like this: Playstation 3 "by Sony", in this case "by Sony" isn't a seller but a brand.
For example right now the only SD2SNES pro at Amazon is sold by a seller called Classic game accesories.
The problem is that the Amazon links at the Krikzz store (Krikzz.com) are directed to the amazon page for the product itself and that same product could be sold by any seller.

I believe what you're saying is basically correct, but if I go to my orders page on Amazon each item I purchase indicates who the item is sold by, for example ."sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc" in the case of the SD2SNES PRO that I purchased it says "sold by: krikzz".

I am still waiting to get my hands on another Super Nintendo to test the SD2SNES PRO. I am hoping that it works properly with the second SNES, in which case I will either try to fix my SNES or get a new one. In the case it still exhibits the same problems with the second SNES I will probably return the SD2SNES PRO. Seeing we are dealing with gaming units that are approaching 30 years old I realize that failing to work in the second unit is not definitive that the problem is with the cartridge, but that is about as far as I can go with testing, especially seeing my return window will eventually run out. That being said, if I do end up returning the SD2SNES PRO, I was thinking of possibly getting one of the Super Everdrives. Does anyone have any ideas as to whether the Super Everdrive might be more tolerant of working with a marginal Super Nintendo than the SD2SNES PRO?

I finally was able to get another Super Nintendo unit to try out with the SD2SNES PRO and it worked fine on this one. I also tried my old power supply and controllers with the second SNES and it still worked fine. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with my original SNES that would cause the the graphics to corrupt when using the SD2SNES PRO?
