I'm asking because the Everdrive itself is already consuming extra juice to work and If I add one more thing that requires more energy maybe it can cause damage to the cartridge, console or maybe both?

I think as long as you use an original power supply you'll be fine.

Speaking more generally, is there ever a case when an underpower situation could outright damage console hardware?

I've seen plenty of circuits have unintended behavior when given insufficient voltage, but my (admittedly extremely limited) EE knowledge struggles to think up situation when solid-state circuitry would be permanently damaged by under-voltage conditions.

Works great, however make sure that you don't use more than 2 controllers with this mod, that's how many I feel comfortable with using at least.

I have one, and like was said,...................do not use more then 2, to not damage your power supply.

I think when the power supply receives lower voltage it's forced to draw more current in order to mantain the power. More current = more heat = problems.

I had no idea this was a thing.  1 google search later I'm prepping to mod my rumble pack.  Is there a central area where all of these helpful (relatively simple) mods are compiled?

I think that Nintendo decided to use batteries to avoid problems when in case of four players use the rumble feature.
