Would it be possible for this to support games that use the SG-1000 mode, that is not available on a Genesis, similarly to how it can support the FM chip that is not available on the Genesis?  (Either actual SG-1000 games, the one Master System game that uses SG-1000 mode, or the romhacks that use the mode?)

No, SG-1000 uses a VDP (video) mode that is not present on Genesis hardware.

I'm pretty sure the FM chip is also not present in Genesis hardware, but an Everdrive with an FPGA can add it.

The FPGA in the X7 isn't adding the Master System FM chip to the Mega Drive though - it's adding it to it's Master System back-compatibility mode.

I'd love the ability to run SG-1000 titles on my MD but I doubt an external device could add a whole new video mode to the Mega Drive.

While we're at it, according to the thread about the X7 FM support, the FM volume is low because of a hardware problem.  Can this problem be fixed in the Pro?

You could keep the x7 as a backup or use it for Zero Tolerance multiplayer.

I know MEGASD requires a mod to get audio cdworking on sega cd games when using it on a Nomad, does the Mega Everdrive Pro requires such modification too?
