Interesting N64 related websites and links
« on: December 14, 2019, 10:19 PM »
I thought we should compile a list of N64 related websites that are worth a visit. Please post any links you might know of.

N64 related news:
-----------------------

https://n64today.com/ - A good site for N64-related news, though sadly it (like every other N64 site) doesn't seem aware of most hacks/mods that are released.

https://n64squid.com/ - More N64 related news.

http://micro-64.com/index.shtml - A great N64 news/information site (including a great guide to the Everdrive 64), but unfortunately the site hasn't been updated for a couple of years.

Game hacking/modding:
------------------------------

http://www.shootersforever.com/forums_message_boards/ - A very good forum for all things related to the games Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, including hacking those games, and is the main forum for mods and hacks like Goldeneye X, Goldfinger 64, and Perfect Dark Plus.

http://n64vault.com/ - Contains various hack and mod patches for games like Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., Diddy Kong Racing, etc. Includes the very good, very comprehensive Goldeneye Editor, which is used to make the hacks and mods for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

https://www.hakpak64.com/ - A great site containing information on what N64 game hacks/mods will work on a real console.

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nintendo_64_forever/ - A great N64 fan-forum.

https://www.romhacking.net/?page=hacks&platform=27 - More N64 hacks/mods.

https://www.romhacking.net/?page=translations&genre=&platform=27&status=&languageid=12&perpage=20&order=&dir=&title=&author=&transsearch=Go - N64 game English translations.

http://www.kai666.com/ - A great collection of Gameshark cheat codes, though these are for PAL games only.

N64 programming:
-----------------------

https://n64.dev/ - A list of N64 programming and hacking links.

https://n64squid.com/homebrew/n64-sdk/ide/ - Setting up an N64 IDE for programming.

https://www.reddit.com/r/n64/comments/8qo5g0/so_you_want_to_mod_your_favourite_game_andor/ - More programming/modding advice and links for beginners.

Here's some more.

There's https://ultra64.ca/ which used to be level42.ca which has a lot of archived stuff including original dev tools and documentation.

There's http://www.iquebrew.org/ for iQue related stuff (N64).

For Zelda stuff, there's https://cloudmodding.com/ and more importantly the Zelda wikis attached to it.  That's where I get quite a lot of info about hacking Zelda games.

These days though, if you're interested in following the latest in N64 development and hacking, your best bet is to get on some of the discord servers.  HylianModding for Zelda stuff, N64Brew for N64 dev, etc.  I don't want to post all of them because not all of them are advertising they are out there.  I'll just say that I found most of them by doing simple searches for N64 discords.  Some of the websites you listed also have discord servers.
Projects: Zelda OoT GCtoN64, Doshin the Giant, SSSV, Sim City 64, Getter Love, Shiren
Flash Carts: EverDrive64 2.5, EverDrive N8, SD2SNES

There is a guide on this forum at:

http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=7393.0

Also, have a look at:

https://n64squid.com/homebrew/how-to-patch-rom-hacks/

And if you prefer not to install a patching program, then you can use the online (web pages) patching webstites:

https://hack64.net/tools/patcher.php

https://www.romhacking.net/patch/

And almost everything you could ever ask about the Everdrive 64 is answered in this thread:

http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5489.0

though of course feel free to post any questions you might have.
