That's great and all but shouldn't you fix your website first? The Custom Robo page has been absent for a while.

Anyone else getting just a white/black screen and nothing else upon booting? My original VPW rom works and has a verified checksum with a big endian format. Tested on a v3 cart with OS 2.12.3.

Awesome news!  I'm not a wrestling fan, but it's always good to see another Japan-only N64 game translated!

It looks like the link is just off.  It points to: https://www.startrinket.com/custom-robo but the actual link is https://www.startrinket.com/customrobo

I've just tried, and it's the same on my ED64, too. V2.0 cartridge with 2.13 of the OS, and of course I have an expansion pak,

Kerr,

My guess is it could be one of two things. 1. The everdrive might not be detecting save type. Can you force the cart to save as sram? I believe you would just have to add an entry for the game in the save_db.txt .

2. Old save files for VPW1 would cause a crash since they are in Japanese.  So make sure you either move/rename them or delete from the folder. If a Japanese save is loaded while the English translation is running it would cause major issues. The save file contains euc-JP encoded wrestler names and the translation uses ascii.

I tried that but that didn't work since it shares the same ID as normal VPW.

I deleted both the JP and the EN saves but still got a blank screen.

It's not like you can't add an entry because it shares ID with another rom. Although the other rom will stop saving. You can also force the save type using the menu without having to touch save_db.

Try loading an entierly different game first to flush the save memory in the ED64, then delete the VPW save file.

When I get home, I'll try, by adding the line:

0x40ABEE49=3    (Virtual Pro Wrestling English Translation Beta v1.75)

to the \ED64\SAVE\save_db.txt

I don't have any save files from the game at all, I checked.

I will update the game ID to NVPE and update the patch to v1.77 see if that fixes the issue. Odd though because I've tested this on 4 different flash carts with no booting issues. ED 2.5 being one of them.

I can confirm that v1.77 fixes the issue, and it now loads and works fine on my N64/ED64.

Great to hear. Just make sure to change the checksum for your save_db.txt entry as it did change when I modified the rom.

I think you can just add:

NVPE=3 (Virtual Pro Wrestling English Translation)

to the save file.  If that doesn't do it, you can replace

VP=3

with

NVPJ=3 (Virtual Pro Wrestling Original)

to force them to be separate.
