SD2SNES Question regarding special chips.
« on: October 20, 2013, 08:25 PM »
I recently ordered an SD2SNES Flash cart from retrogate and I understand how it works except for one aspect of it. How exactly does it emulate the special chips and is the emulation of the chips as close to the original games or how good is it? For example games like Mega Man X3 use the CX4. Will Mega Man X3 look and function the same as the real thing? Same goes for the other games that use special chips. Thank you for your time.
All I wanna do is shred.

Unfortunately there hasn't been any real activity there for almost a year. ikari01 posted a 'tiny status update' in May, after the last firmware update last November, and that's it. I'm happy with my sd2snes and I bought it for what it could do, not what I hoped it still might do later ... but I was hopeful for SuperFX. Not holding my breath anymore.

All I can say is that SuperFX is too much for me to handle at the moment so I’m going to target some lower hanging fruit for now.

"at the moment" which i gather don't mean never, although i'm not counting on superFX or SA1 support anymore. sounded positive at the time when i purchased sd2snes but now support seems like maybe a bridge too far. sd2snes is a great product regardless. if i'd have known then maybe i would have decided to get a super everdrive instead and saved some cash but life is full of decisions like this.
it's true also that purchasing a product in hope that future updates will make it even better is a bit silly. best be happy with it for what it is i guess.

Well, now that it's open source, we may see faster updates from the community.

Since Bunnyboy apprears to have no interest in releasing a Powerfest 94 repro, wonder how hard it would be to get it to work on SD2SNES (programming wise)?
