I had to watch the ending of "Wonder Project J2" on youtube, until that the translation was working well with only a few minor bugs. ^^

Unfortunately there's not that many hacks for N64 (that works on real hardware) but I hope more will come now when good flash carts are available.

Sin & Punishment Translation
Superb cabal shooting game!

Wonder Project J2: Koruro no Mori no Josette Translation
I loved the prequel to SNES. It's great to have an ED64 and finally be able to play the translation without having to resort to buggy emulators.

Ogre Battle 64 Lycanthrope Fix
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/561/
A bug fix to a great game. This fixes so that werewolves transform with the moon like in the original Ogre Battle. US version only though.

All those custom tracks for F-Zero X and the Climax hack.

Goldeneye X (http://www.goldeneyevault.com/viewfile.php?id=202)

Perfect Dark - modded multiplayer where the sims can use mines, and everyone can use Goldeneye weapons (http://www.shootersforever.com/forums_message_boards/viewtopic.php?t=5996)

Perfect Dark - modded multiplayer so that the single player levels are playable in multiplayer - not ideal, as the levels mostly aren't suited for mp, plus not all levels work, but it's interesting to see (http://www.goldeneyevault.com/viewfile.php?id=240)

The same as the above, but with weather in the levels (http://www.shootersforever.com/forums_message_boards/viewtopic.php?t=6270)

...
Superb Cave game!
....

What is "Superb Cave game", please?

Anybody know of any hacks that work for PAL roms? Some of us haven't got NTSC working :(

Pretty much every Banjo Kazooie hack works, you can find them over at rarewarecentral.com. None that work on PAL though, as far as I know.

Oh, I see, thanks.  I thought you meant there was a mod to convert Sin and Punishment to a cavern environment!

Have a look at www.shootersforever.com/forums_message_boards/  and http://www.goldeneyevault.com/ and see what they have for PAL machines. I can't help, sorry, as my not-expensive PAL TV runs NTSC games. Are you sure yours doesn't, I'd have thought that nowadays any TV would run NTSC mode?

So did I! Alas, my Toshiba doesn't.
Might I ask what kind of TV you have? I'll see if I can get hold of it!

It's a Samsung. when I get home I'll post the model name/number, if you like, but I wouldn't recommend you get a Samsung, as from what I've read some of them are funny on different resolutions, the best thing you can do is make a post on a few console gaming websites (http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/index/, http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/forum.php, etc), asking what TV's they'd recommend (say which country you are in, so they know which brand and PAL/NTSC applies to you), and say what consoles you''ll be using with the TV, as some consoles won't work with some TVs.

My own TV only has problems with my N64 (my oldest, simplest console) - it works almost 100% with all PAL/NTSC/JAP games that I've tried, but a tiny handful of NTSC games have problems (Indiana Jones won't show at all, it's just a black screen even though the game sound comes through fine (and there's no PAL version of Indiana Jones N64, sadly), and a couple of other NTSC games show a black screen when booted, but the gameplay screen shows up. My other consoles (XBox 1, PS2, Gamecube, XBox 360 and PS3) all display fine on the TV, as does the laptop (TV out via the laptop's HDMI lead). Plus the N64 doesn't look great on this TV - all of the other consoles look fine, but the N64 looks, well I don't know the word, it's perfectly bearable and doesn't put me off the games, but the image looks slightly rough.

If I had the space I'd use a CRT instead of an LCD, CRTs are better for gaming (though LCD is better for reading text), and people are literally giving away old CRT TVs now on Freecycle, and similar, but I don't have much space, sadly. If you have, though, try to get a CRT if you want to use an N64 and older consoles, or else you'll have to ask around on the 'net to find out what LCD TVs work well with older consoles, as most TV manufacturers seem to think that no one plays on old consoles anymore, so don't support their low resolution in the new TVs, sadly.

Voyager of Time can't be completed on real hardware. A door in the forest temple causes a freeze. It's also somewhat buggy and unstable.

I attached a review if anyone wants to read about my experiences.

I got F Zero Cimax to work, but I suck at it. It was a great effort though. A Perfect Dark hack called Goldeneye X works as well. It's multi-player only for now. Should be fun to play Goldeneye on the PD engine someday.

Goldeneye X :D

I tried to play Super Mario Star Road and Super Mario 74 ROM Hacks but they freeze on boot.
Are ALL of the Super Mario 64 ROM Hacks not playable on ED64?

As far as I know, no Mario 64 hacks work on a real N64 (it's not an ED64 specific problem). This is because the Mario 64 editor was only tested on an emulator and not on a real N64, and the emulator wasn't too precise, and allowed some sort of memory tricks that crash a real N64. The Mario 64 editor has never (as far as I know) been updated to make it real-N64-compatible, so any hacks made on it are still N64 incompatible.

There is a similar situation on the SNES - a certain very popular SNES game has dozens of hacks, some of them very high quality indeed, and they don't work on a real SNES only on emulators, as the hack program there was only tested on imprecise emulators. And that game is... Super Mario World! Seriously, that's a fairly impressive coincidence. But I think the SMW editor (and some hacks) have been fixed to run on a real SNES now.
