EverDrive 64 / Re: Error:55+SDR

I figured it out.  And I'm really embarrassed it took so long, but I THOUGHT I tried this before:  The issue was just a crappy expansion pak.  Once I switched to an official Nintendo one, the problem went away.

I should have known better!!!

I'll look into it.  I used the same PSU, controller, cables, etc on both, so the issue is internal.

I just borrowed a friend's UltraHDMI-modded N64 and the Everdrive 64 x5 works perfect.  So, it's definitely not an incompatibility with all UltraHDMI-modded N64's, but there's definitely an issue.

Well, I've definitely used Everdrives on HDMI-modded N64's before.  In fact, everyone I know who has an UltraHDMI, also has an everdrive.  I can try to dig up another power supply to test though.

I'm having a weird issue - My brand new Everdrive 64 x5 works perfect on my RGB modded N64, but whenever I use it in my UltraHDMI-modded N64, I get:  Error:55+SDR

Has anyone run into this before?  I tried cleaning the cartridge slot, but it didn't help.  Also, real carts work fine on both and a crappy Everdrive knockoff someone gave me* works on both as well.  Here's the pic:

*Please don't bust my chops about the knockoff.  It was given to me by someone who didn't know better and eventually bought a real one from Krikzz.  I only keep it for times like this.

This is specifically designed for Genesis sav's and won't work with NES.

Mega EverDrive / Tool to convert sav's between MiSTer & Mega Everdrive

There's now tools available that allow you to swap Sega Genesis savegames between the MiSTer and Everdrives, made by Rysha and Superg.  I've tested a few and it works great.  I figured there's probably other people here using both devices that can benefit from this:

After the latest update, everything I tried from the redump set works:

EverDrive GG / Re: Everdrive GG x7 compatibility

The x7 I purchased arrived last weekend and I can also confirm Gunstar Hero's works, as well as the English translation of Shining Force: Final Conflict.

Check out the review here...I like them both, but the x7 is definitely superior:

All my 32x's are with someone who can help diagnose and repair at the moment.  We're all pretty busy lately, but if there's any progress or diagnosis, I'll let you know.

Also, the aftermarket cable shouldn't matter*, as the 32x can power up without a video cable at all.  You can even just plug video into the Genesis only and boot a 32x game - It's actually pretty cool to see which layers of a game the Genesis creates, vs which layers the 32x creates.

*shouldn't matter unless it has a short, of course.  And yes, I did test with no cable plugged in just to double check :)

I'm sorry, but I still don't have a solution.  I gave my problematic 32x to a friend and it worked for him.  I'd assume the issue was somehow my fault, but I've tested across many consoles, with different PSU's, different video cables, etc.  Heck, I even tested on the Mega Sg + DAC and neither 32x worked.

I hope I can figure out a solution.

I have the same issue sometimes, but the problem follows the 32x.  Said differently, if my x7 works with a 32x, it'll work on any Genesis I connect it to.

If the x7 has issues with one 32x, it won't work on anything - That 32x won't work on original & unmodded consoles, triple bypass'd consoles, whatever.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what the issue is, but my gut's telling me there's a hardware issue with certain 32x revisions.  I'll keep looking.

I'm not sure if this applies to your situation, but I had similar issues with my 32x that appeared to be related to my Mega Everdrive x7...but once I had my 32x recapped the probably went away.  If you have the ability to recap yours (or know a mod shop), it's something worth doing:  Even if that isn't the issue, we're starting to see leaky or bad caps in 32x consoles, so it'll need it at some point:

Thank you!

I've tested it and it does in fact auto boot the games and therefore skips the menu. It's a good idea for those who want or need that feature but everyone else should stick with the OS20 betas or OS16.
How do you designate the auto-boot game?  Do you have to name it like "autoexec.nes" or something?  I apologize for not just testing myself, but my NES setup is buried at the moment.
