EverDrive GBA / Re: ROMs not in alphabetical order
« on: October 04, 2021, 09:03 AM »
I just downloaded a bunch of roms from the 2021 GBA Game Jam. I then put them into a folder on my X5 GBA flashcart.

Page 1 starts with games with the letter D.

Then it seems to be in alphabetical order. But then on the 3rd and 4th page it starts with games starting with numbers and then with the letter A.

I always thought it sorted the games automatically in the folder. But someone said it's actually the games are listed in the order that they are copied over? I don't think I've had this issue with any of my other everdrives for other systems.

Any help.

Get a app called fatsort

EverDrive GBA / Re: Warranty length
« on: September 30, 2021, 03:15 PM »
Hello,

I have had the original Everdrive GBA for a while but bought the mini the moment it was announced. I got really unlucky and got two defective cartridges in a row. Support was really helpful and sent me new ones each time. The third cart I received worked fine until yesterday, where I had a crash in game. I started testing it and have only gotten a red screen once but it has crashed multiple times on both my default Micro and my IPS GBA with a rechargeable battery.

I love this thing and am sad to start having issues with it, but I wasn't sure how long the warranty window for it is. Would it be too late to request a new one, considering mine is from the first batch of cartridges?

EDIT/ If the warranty window is passed, is there a way I can repair it myself? I still have the two defective cartridges and can solder

its 1 year from the date u bought it

I have been playing Crystal Dust and similar pokemon rom hacks on my regular x5 everdrive, they worked fine along side the original ones. Ever since I switched to the x5 mini the rom hacks give me these messages when I attempt to save:

"Save failed. Checking the backup memory... Please wait."
"The backup memory is damaged, or the internal battery has run dry. You can still play, but not save."

The original games still save just fine it only affects the rom hacks, and when I switch back to the regular x5 I am able to save.
Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Replace the battery

EverDrive GBA / Re: Playing GBA X7 through a Nintendo DS
« on: August 27, 2021, 12:19 AM »
Would there be any pros or cons of this? I’m getting an X7 and was shopping for a GBA when it dawned on me that I could get an original DS instead. At least I think. Are there ANY drawbacks to playing the X7 through this hardware with regards to the GBA games or the emulator games etc? Would the save states function the same? How about with regards to the picture?

Thanks!

Everdrive GBA X7 does not exist

On the DE I could change the clock time in one of the menus before loading a rom. This specifically matters because I need to match up their times for pokemon unbound. I dont see a way to edit the RTC on this, and unbound requires you stay consistent with RTC or events dont happen. Any advice?

use Boktai: the sun is in your hand to set dame/time

EverDrive GBA / Re: REQUEST: Isolated RTC Function for GBA X5
« on: July 16, 2021, 01:16 PM »
As a Boktai player I think it would be a pretty good feature, but I am not sure how hard would be to implement. I wish that at least GBA X5 had an option to change the clock from the OS menu.
The RTC feature on flashcards seems to be really hard. One year ago, the EZ Flash team had released the EZ Flash JR for Gameboy and until now they couldn't figure it out how to make the RTC to work properly.

the RTC works fine here on my EZ-Flash Jr.

I just started Pokemon Unbound. I was having issues with the RTC. As advised above, I went into Boktai and set the date and the time in there. Sure enough now Unbound works. This should be a setting in the ED settings.

Oh u mean like the EZ-Flash Omega and Omega Definative Edition well thats never going to happen

from ODE with both games ran and saved from one file only

Is there anyway to convert save files from the Ever Drive to work in the Omega Definitive Edition?

The X5 uses 'eep', 'srm', and 'fla' in the "SAVE" folder in the GBASYS folder.

While Omega DE uses SAVER folder and uses what it calls "esv" & "sav" files. Don't know if there are other variations, as I haven't tested across all GBA games or various save type options.

just rename them to .sav

Thanks that seems to fix 80% of the problems...

What about games that X5 splits the saves between two different files? Like for example Super Mario 3 Advance seems to have one save for the main game that's in FLA, and the secondary save for the bonus levels saves (that's in SRM). As both files are the 'same name' you can't just rename the extensions....

ODE seems to only make 'one save' for both modes, merging the data into one file.

Is there a way to merge files for games that split saves like this?

Well idk maybe just ignore the arcade mario games on these games?

I'll say it again u need a EZ-Flash Omega Defective Edition to do this

I was able to find the set. But not a sorted one for everdrive. Sorting the files will be very time consuming.

exactly
