Title: Brand new N8 won't load ROM images
Post by: obitus1990 on December 21, 2018, 09:56 PM
I received my N8 yesterday, directly from Krikzz and his Amazon store.  I put the NESOS (v1.6) files in the proper directory structure from the root of the SD card, and, copied some ROMs to another folder, with no more than 100 files in it.

The cart boots up, I can select ROMs, but when I have it start the ROM, it flashes a brief "loading" message at the top of the screen, then nothing.  The screen stays gray.

Original carts work fine.  I have replaced all electrolytic capacitors in this frontloader in both the main unit and the power block/RF box as of last week, as well as the voltage rectifying diodes, and have a good, clean new PSU.

I am using a SanDisk 64G SD card, formatted as FAT32.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Are you sure you have good ROMs?
It looks like as incorrect ROM files.
Where did you get them?

Yep, the ROMs are good.  I copied them all over to a 16G card, and, now it works.  Is there some kind of size limitation to the card being used?

Yes they accept SD and SDHC cards, so that's up to 32GB. The ones over 32 are SDXC.

Yes right. 32 Gb is max.

My advice, particularly when loading new OS, is to defrag the SD card, even if Windows says it's 0%.  That seems to help with the N8.
