Can we get some kind of response on what to expect with the GBP issues?  Is there going to be a firmware fix, hardware fix, or what?

It will be new hardware revision

Will it be possible to exchange the X7 cart I have for a new hardware revision?

Okay, terrific.  Thanks for the info.

Ehhhh, I can just purchase another X7. Besides, I have Two game boy colors and an Advance, all I need is a link cable, and I can trade away!

But, back to the topic.
I posted a review of it on youtube (More of a demo, but my thoughts are more towards the end of video), just search EDGB X7 or Everdrive GBX7, or something else like those two. It is amazing! I can finally play Pokemon Crystal Polished on real hardware! So far, it works like a charm! Save states work, as I'm using a trainer ROM of Ms. Pacman Special Edition (The Super Pac Man game, as that is an underrated Pac Man game), And Sonic 3D Blast 5 works. The music is slightly less irritating, with less Atari (Best I can describe) type noises (I compared spacehamster's video with actual hardware), though the music is still certainly earritating (Pun intended). Real Time clock works! Worth the 136 dollars!

Just received the X5 and it seems like inside the unit there is a battery holder in the top left. Is this used on the X5 and if so what for? Thank you.

to keep the save in the SRAM so you can turn off your gb and the save will not be lost..
once you turn on again the gb the save will be saved into the sd card..
the x3 doesn't have a battery so if you want to keep the save you have to press the card to go back into the menu so it copies the save to sd card
weirdly krikkz still using sram... i wonder why.. the first reason that i think it's cost...

So with the new RTC function, will the battery inside the cart run dry quickly? I assume it still needs to draw power to keep it going like a real cart? I remember gold/silver carts running dry pretty quick.

Modern RTC chips is power effective, it draws just little bit more than cart with battery ram only
