Oh, sorry. I've looked on my PC, but I don't seem to have any of the later files. Probably Saturnu will re-post them for you.

Hi there,

Can you please reupload all the files? Multifilemirror has gone down last month, and I couldn't find the ED64 v1 version of GB64 anywhere. :(

I've uploaded the archive 'saturnus_ed64_archive_v3.zip' to:

https://mega.nz/file/TRkBHCgQ#hxL2hfiUlfF5jADexLcQudVRqv5_8ShjK7-FeK2tsAc

I don't have any of the other files from the first post, sorry.

Saturnu, if you want me to take down this file, then just say so, of course.

Sorry, I didn't see these replies. I've made the appropriate changes, thanks.

Thanks! Do you know more of these?

Sorry, I hadn't seen this question before. There are new SM64 hacks being made all the time, and they are mostly easy to find, either via Youtube (where such hacks are shown off by their creators, or reviewed by other games), via google.com (just type in something like:

"super mario 64" hack

or

"super mario 64" mod

or similar), or on any of the SM64 hack sites, such as:

https://sm64romhacks.com/

https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&s=sm64hacks

https://mario64hacks.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Hacks

or general hacking sites, such as:

https://www.romhacking.net/games/847/

The problem of course is that most SM64 hacks don't work on a real N64, and since for some reason neither the hacks' authors, nor the people who review the hacks usually bother to say whether or not the hack is compatible with real hardware. It leads to a lot of trial and error on your part, and you usually find that the best hacks are the ones that tend to not work on your N64.

I suppose we should be grateful that SM64 is the only N64 game that is plagued by the difficulty of getting it's hacks to run on real hardware. But it is very annoying.

Anyway, I managed to find the Renegadist's hack compatibility web site (a really good site listing N64 hack compatibility) on the Wayback Machine, as the original hasn't been accessible for a while now:

https://web.archive.org/web/20201027100508/https://www.hakpak64.com/super-mario-64

Green text means playable, white means untested, red means the hack won't boot at all, and orange means it boots but crashes at some later point.

Also, here is a web page listing some real hardware-compatible SM64 hacks:

https://hack64.net/wiki/doku.php?id=super_mario_64:list_of_console_compatible_hacks

I've sent you a PM.

And Duke Nukem!

Actually, if they did add Joanna Dark, Bond, Turok, and Duke, then we could play matches and tournaments where everyone plays as a human. Alright, so Mario, Luigi, Samus, etc, are human too, but they are more cartoony (how else can a human compress into a small ball, the way Samus does, or do all the amazing jumps that Mario does, etc?) so perhaps wouldn't count.

Or am I just overthinking this?

Most consoles uses a 10V PSU with a normal barrel plug, so you can use any generic switching PSU with reversible polarity and variable output voltage as long as you have the right barrel size and set it to the correct output voltage. But N64 uses a proprietary PSU with both 3.3V and 12V output.

Always unplug the PSU from the wall after you are done using the N64 and the PSU will last longer.

Do you have to unplug the N64, can't you just turn off the wall socket?

Relaying this information, a near complete Nintendo 64 Prototype dump has surfaced to the public called "Doubutsu Banchou" (or "Animal Leader")! It is the N64 version of what we know as Cubivore on the Nintendo Gamecube! Really cool stuff to be seen here and is worth checking out!
The Prototype will need to have this entry included into save_db.txt for it to work properly, otherwise the game will not make it to the file select screen.

Added, thanks.

This is fantastic! Huge thanks to everyone involved.

A third party power PSU that has switchable connections, so you can connect it to a variety of consoles (with a switch to select the right console, if necessary) would probably be a really big seller. I'd be surprised if something like this didn't exist already, as it seems a pretty obvious thing for the retrogaming market.

I'm not sure why this is the case, but replacing my whole save_db.txt file with the one given in http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=6126.0 seems to have fixed my issue. I've only added the Dinosaur Planet line prior to replacing the whole text file, but it's working now.
Ah! Good to hear that it's working out for ya now! Just remember that when copying the whole save_db.txt list of entries from Kerr Avon's thread, Dinosaur Planet ROM ID and DK64 Kiosk Demo CRC HI value (if they're both detected in the save_db.txt file) creates conflict with each other, causing unintentional savetype alterations. (Learned about this the hard way)

No, I changed the list as you suggested (in your post http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=10970.15) so it should all be OK now.
I still see the two entries in the list on my end:
DP=50       (Dinosaur Planet Prototype and hacks/fixes)
0x0DD4ABAB=2    (Donkey Kong 64 (U) (Demo) (Kiosk))

What should I change, then, please?

Two new Super Mario 64 mini-mods, Evo Q and Tribal Tropics have been released, and they are fully compatible with a real N64 (unlike most SM64 mods, that won't run on a real N64), and they look interesting:

Evo Q:

Tribal Tropics:

Also, the real N64 compatible and supposedly excellent mod for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link, has been updated to version 1.5:

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5334/

And the (again, said to be both well worth playing and real hardware compatible) Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask mod The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask - Masked Quest has been updated to version 4.3.0:

1. Bomberman (Bomberman 64 The Second Attack)
2. James Bond (Goldeneye)
3. Turok

Oh, Turok. I forgot about him, and he does represent the N64 - I mean, who plays the post-N64 Turok games at all? Turok is a great answer.

One of the great things about mods is that they don't have to worry about copyright  :)

And on the off-chance that any of Smash Remix's developers are wondering which characters to add in the future (we can hope!) and happen to see this thread, let's all post our top three characters we'd love to see added to the mod.

For me it's:

1. Joanna Dark,
2. James Bond,
3. A Big Daddy from Bioshock (how brilliant would this be?  :D),
