Mega EverDrive / Mega Everdrive Pro and save file conversion.
« on: August 19, 2020, 10:26 PM »
Not having any luck with Genesis saves, even tried the old 8-16 and 16-8. Tried savesplitter as well with Sega CD, while internal ram saves are working with conversion, cart ram games are not. Tried toggling ram cart on and off prior and loading different game saves without success.

I know it's not Sega, but would rock to see other systems (GB and GBC, maybe GG find a way around that color pallete limit) and more time spent on the NES core. Maybe even release the source for it and lets others work on it.

Otherwise it rocks. When I received the Mega Everdrive Pro I sold my Mega SD and am never looking back. Though, wish we could figure out how to convert saves between the 2 carts. The save splitter app, only works with internal ram and can't convert ram cart saves. Also, not having any luck with Genesis/Megadrive games. Thankfully Sega Master System games are drag and drop compatible without conversion.

Any chance we can get support for Mega SD saves? I really don't want to start over Shining Force CD, Lunar 1 & 2. When I requested support for Mega Everdrive save support they added it quickly. Hoping you do the same.

I opened a post earlier about support for the ME v1. Why is the ME v1 not being supported anymore? I understand the V2 / X3/X5/X7 support is important for sales but a lot of people bought the ED v1 and still want support / fixes. and a final release of the V10 firmware.

Support has clearly ended for v1. Get a v2 or X7.

I would of loved to see his reply, why was it deleted?

I will fix it in near future.

Excellent. As soon as this happens I am sold. Well, that and the Saving games issues...

What happened to the last test OS Versions for the Mega Everdrive V1?
Did Krikzz ever release a stable version of it?
Maybe he could make it possible to create one last update with the new Master System update?

Nope. Buy the current Mega Everdrive X7

I would advise against using them. They have been problematic even back in the PSP home brew scene, would load games, but not plugins, etc. Not a huge price difference, Sandisk is always the safe bet.

I appreciate the reply, but no dice. Guess the game really wants me to start over. I will toy around with it a bit more with 16to8 and 8to16. I am glad it's only one game and not multiple games.

p.s. Figured it out. Had to run it through 8to16 and then it worked. You set me on the right path, thanks!

p.p.s So, basically run the Master Everdrive save through 8to16 and then copy it over per your instructions and it works.

I have been wanting this too. Would be cool.

Mega EverDrive / Issues with transferring saves.

Now that the Mega Everdrive v2 and X7 can play FM music; I decided to attempt to transfer my Ys Vanished Omen save from the Master Ever drive to the Mega Ever drive. Whatever I tried the Mega Ever Drive doesn't work with the saves. I first simply renamed it from *.srm to ssm, then used the 16to8 and 8to16, to convert it that way and nothing. Also, kept the default name and ran it through 16to8 and 8to16 again. I would just start over, but I maxed out my levels and am nearing the end of the game and would rather not start over.

Anyone here had any data corruption? Tried playing Popful Mail and my Sega CD told me I had to format the RAM cart... :(

I was at the Wood Golem :(

I have never had any issues with it at all. Good thing, I sold my official Sega CD Ram Cart to fund my Mega Everdrive v2 Purchase...

You motivated me to do the SMS enable on both my Nomads. Already did the screen replacement and recapped it. Now just have to reconnect the audio lines to the cartridge slot so I can hear the FM sound on it. The Nomad really is the best Genesis and SMS.
Sweet! I need to connect the audio pins on mine too. I'm 5,000 miles from my soldering equipment until December though. So Necronomfive and Krikzz literally game me a Christmas present to look forward to with this new development ;D

I put a new speaker in my Nomad when I recapped and LCD-modded it, which gives it a little more volume. I posted a video of the new Sonic Mania FMV playing on my modded Nomad if you're curious to see/hear it.

You will have to let me know what speaker you put in there. I swapped mine with a game gear one and it made a difference. Not huge but better than stock. It's weird when I run that on my nomad with Mega Everdrive v2 I get no sound. Lol, it works just have to actually download the version with sound...

I was going to try this.

You already responded to it. Wish he would of included some pictures.

Perfect, thank you! :D
