My guess at this point of time it would always be archieve.org as their hasn't been a actual pack of roms made for years now, as most stuff gets achieved there your best bet is there.

I got the GoodNES 3.23b a lot of ROM's but it doesn't read all the games on there, any idea why ? I made ROM folder in root and added all the .nes roms. only get a - c roms. And what's with the ROMS being labeled "Zombie Nation (U) [b1].nes" I understand the U means united states J japan but b1 b2 b3 ??

b* denotes that it's a bad dump of the archived ROM.  So as you mentioned, examples of this would be b1, b2, b3, etc.

Here's a general legend of the commonly used suffixes in archived ROMs:

(U) = US
(E) = Europe
(J) = Japan
(G) = German
(JU)=USA/Japan
(JE)=Europe/Japan
(JUE)=USA/Europe/Japan
(!) = Verified Good Dump
[a] = Alternative Version
[b*] = Bad Dump
[f*] = Modified ROM; built to address compatibility issues with certain emulators (I.e. zSNES, Snes9X, etc)
[h*] = Hack
[o*] = OverDump
[m*] = I think this is a multi-language version

Hope this helps. :)

B stands for broken or at least that's how I did it on my SNESAdvance games I once patched, I would presume that if rom uploaders were able to make it more simple the ! should have been changed to P as in playable that's how I listed my SNES ones I converted. If it was somewhere in between it would be G and then P being glitchy but playable... now I think of it it's been years since I made those xD

This is why I roll with No-Intro. No sense in keeping all those duplicate games around.

Yup GoodNES is crap now when we have newer and better dumps. No-intro is the way to go for NES.

The Famicom Disk System is an exception though as no-intro has many bad FDS dumps and is incomplete. For FDS you can complete no-intro with TOSEC dumps, though which is also incomplete. Or just use the FDS lot check images from the gigaleak (the paladin leak, "FMC_DISK.7z") which should include perfect dumps, by Nintendo themselves, of all licensed FDS games (though only the latest revision) and even a few unreleased ones. The leak includes Nintendo's tool for converting the disk images to the .fds format used by emulators, ED N8, FDSStick etc. The dumps were made by Nintendo from archived master disks for use in their emulators such as the Virtual Console. Just don't ask where to find the gigaleak.

These dumps shouldn't have any save data on them which is great, because many games lacks a way to erase the save data, and might even write save data the first time you start them. The no-intro and TOSEC dumps has many games that still contains save data and it can sometimes be very hard to figure out what data is written by the game and what the factory state of the disk was, because the whole disk is writable. This is no longer problem thanks to the gigaleak.

We can hope that someone will release the lot check batch converted to FDS format ready for download someday. Maybe it already exists?

You have to click show all that is found on the far right side and ignore the torrent mention above it then view contents for them to appear.

Could it be because the directories are not listed as .nes at the end of them it may be the uploader changed the file end names to only reveal some but not all games, likely putting .nes at the end will make them appear.
