Everdrive 64 X7, switch instead of micro USB?
« on: May 08, 2021, 03:53 AM »
Hi all, new here

Due to pandemic delays I have finally opened my Everdrive 64 x7 that I purchased in August of last year from everdrive.me. I purchased an fxpak pro at the same time which arrived as expected along with the ED64 X7

On the right side of my ED64 X7, where I expect to find the microUSB port, there is a little beige switch that I cannot flip without using something like a paper clip.

Sadly at the moment I dont have the proper torx bits to open up the cart and examine the pcb, and I wont have access to a working console to test it with until next week at least.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what this switch is and if what I have received really is an EDX7 even though the label and box said as much. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Looks counterfit to me (or a 2.5 in the wrong case / wrong label)... can you load the menu?

My N64 doesnt have a power supply at the moment, but I will have it at some point next week.

Tomorrow I will get a T6 Torx bit and try opening the cart and take pictures of the PCB.

I purchased directly from everdrive.me along with an fxpak pro that seems legit to me but now I would like to open up both carts to check the pcb. I still have receipt, packaging from ukraine with customs declaration etc. I contacted everdrive.me but not sure if I should expect to hear from them over the weekend, I also noticed on twitter that krikzz himself is on vacation currently.

I never saw a x7 with a switch either. My guess its for pal roms vs usa roms, however no true X7 cart would need that. It looks counter-fit or to be a really early model.

ED64 X series does on the fly  with UltraCIC 3
so no need for switch

Is it possible to everdrive.me to send counterfeit everdrives? I thought this was effectively purchasing direct from krikzz.

Was there ever revisions of v2.5 with microSD and the switch on the side? My understanding is these old versions had full size SD and switch on the top, would not be compatible with the x7 shell?

The only way to really know is to see a pic of the internal circuit board, and the menu version compatible...
But yeah, everdrive.me is an official reseller... In all cases, I would definitely get in touch with them and see what they say...

I got mine from stoneagegamer since its a USA reseller (so faster shipping), but yeah OP I would return this, as this isnt the product you paid for.

They might have just made a mistake and put the wrong sticker on it so it got mixed up. We will see when you post pictures of PCB.

As suspected, i got a V2.55 PCB in my X7 shell/label. I heard back from everdrive.me and forwarded them the pictures, will hopefully be taken care of.
