I did not test phantasy star.
Probably wolf has wrong header. 'R' sign not exist at 0x1BO = saves does not work

From chilly willy:

"Nope. It's fine. I checked the binary with a hex editor and "R" is at 0x1B0. Here's the source of the header if that will help him find his bug.

code:

! Standard MegaDrive ROM header at 0x100

        .ascii  "SEGA 32X port of"
        .ascii  "Wolfenstein 3D  "
        .ascii  "Wolfenstein 3D S"
        .ascii  "hareware 32X    "
        .ascii  "                "
        .ascii  "Wolfenstein 3D S"
        .ascii  "hareware 32X    "
        .ascii  "                "
        .ascii  "BLD 20120222-0"
        .word   0x0000
        .ascii  "J6              "
        .long   0x00000000,0x003FFFFF   /* ROM start, end */
        .long   0x00FF0000,0x00FFFFFF   /* RAM start, end */
.ascii  "RA"                    /* External RAM */
        .byte   0xF8                    /* don't clear + odd bytes */
        .byte   0x20                    /* SRAM */
        .long   0x00200001,0x0020FFFF   /* SRAM start, end */
        .ascii  "    "
        .ascii  "                "
        .ascii  "                "
        .ascii  "                "
        .ascii  "F               "      /* World rom */

"

According to many people the wolf32x homebrew saves fine on different flash carts.  Also since phantasy star 4 is still not saving right I'm guessing something needs fixing with the mega everdrive saving system.

Phantasy Star IV saved fine for me when I tried it.

Phantasy Star - The End of the Millenium (U) [!].gen is the rom I'm using.

Really I'm doing something wrong?  I went to the first town, his start button, told it to save, pressed reset for it to save to the card.  Then I hit start to load the game again, and the only option I got was "new game" or "start" or whatever it is.  I'll try getting another rom, thanks for letting me know that it works for you.  Still I got the most recent wolf32x rom and that's confirmed by the author of the rom and it's not working with the mega everdrive but it works with other flash thingies.  When I try to load a saved game on the wolf32x rom it says the savedata is corrupt and loads the right stage and position but often forgets what guns and ammo amount I have.

I'm working on modding a system right now so I'll try out a different rom when I get time.

I also had no issues saving on PSIV - playing through it to completion (and then some!) was one of the first things I did when I got my Mega Everdrive. I used the Japanese version with Sixfortyfive's bugfix patch, which I highly recommend, especially for the Japanese version (for the U.S. version, all it does is fix the level 99 bug).
