Bought an Everdrive 64 X7 and the Menu flickers
« on: April 29, 2021, 04:00 PM »
Hello Community. I hope you can help me out. Finally my everdrive cart arrived. Put the card in and powered on the n64. The thing is now...the menu flickers. Like a broken/damaged av cable or dirty game module. But a few games work without any problems. I can make a video if you want. Oh, and i use a hdmi adapter.

What do you suggest I do to solve this problem? Are there HDMI mods for PAL consoles?

He means he should try without the HDMI adapter. Try with the normal composite video cable.

The thing is, iirc my original av cable is broken. That's why i asked if any hdmi mods for pal consoles exist.

If you're in the UK, Retro Gaming Cables have good quality stuff like the RAD2X and the upcoming S-video SNES cable they're working on which should work on charcoal N64's.

As for HDMI mods, there's this recent one which looks impressive. New stock should be arriving in early summer.

An original N64 composite cable isn't expensive either.

Just avoid the cheap low quality composite cables, most of them have shielding issues. Consoles4You are working on a better quality AV cable to combat against bad quality AV cables from ebay/aliexpress.

Finally my rad2x arrived today. And what should i say? It works. Good to know that the cheap HDMI is broken and not the n64 itself. Now i have an rgb mod+rad2x.
