What does the Diagnostics screen say?

What was the issue? I mean, what did you fix? Edit: Ah right. Good to see it working now.

Sounds a bit like:

Make sure the N64Digital firmware is up to date.

I tried V2.12.10.preview today and unfortunately it's giving me the same issue with v2.13 which screws up my ED menu options to have only three settings instead of 11 or so. I can't change resolution, turn on cheats or patch, etc.
The official 2.13 doesn't work correctly for me due to an apparent hardware fault with my EDv3 cart.

v2.12.9.1 works as intended though.

That's good to know at least!

The X7 should automatically detect the console's region. I just realized that the N64digital has a way to play NTSC games on a PAL machine and vice-versa, I think. Might be some sort of conflict there. Edit: In the N64D settings, Check Clock Mode if its set to Auto..?

You don't need the voltage converter if the PAL PSU works fine.

I own an Everdrive 64 x7 which works fine on my PAL N64 but won't boot at all on my japanese N64.
The JN64 works fine, I've tried games on it and they boot without a problem. But when I try to boot my JN64 with the Everdrive all I get is a black picture.
I know what both the Everdrive and the JN64 work, so what could be the issue?
Correct me if I'm wrong but it might be a power draw issue with the JP N64, meaning the capacitors might need to be replaced, unfortunately.
Oh, N64digital. Uhh, I have no idea. Is there no image with either digital or analog?

I use my PAL power supply with my JN64, could that be the problem?

I still have the original JN64 power supply, but I don't think I can use it on a european power grid, right?
Please don't! That will damage the JP power supply...without a voltage converter, that is.

Here's some 2.12.9 pics! The background wallpaper is a custom 640x240 BMP one I made.

Everything works OK so far. I like the blue-ish text, but I think the folder & file colors are too similar to each other. Good work though.

For some reason, the 320x240 option gives me an interlaced (480i) image rather then a progressive image. It's been like that for a while and wondering if there's going to be a fix for it. 640x240 gives out a progressive image correctly.

I may be wrong but depending on the soldering quality, which may vary, surface mount chips may fail due to flex pressure.

The only thing that may save it is to try reflow the chips.

An original N64 composite cable isn't expensive either.
Just avoid the cheap low quality composite cables, most of them have shielding issues. Consoles4You are working on a better quality AV cable to combat against bad quality AV cables from ebay/aliexpress.

If you're in the UK, Retro Gaming Cables have good quality stuff like the RAD2X and the upcoming S-video SNES cable they're working on which should work on charcoal N64's.

As for HDMI mods, there's this recent one which looks impressive. New stock should be arriving in early summer.

What revision board is it? From my understanding, some boards don't get along with the Pro. I wonder if your MD is a Japanese one which is poorly modded for 50hz and it's causing a side-effect with the Pro.* If I were you, I would try to restore it back to 60hz to see if that fixes it. The PRO could also be defective. Here's some suggestions:
  • Try another PSU
  • Check Diagnostics if possible
  • Try another MD

*Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

The problem is the OSSC. While it's faster to interlace/progressive switching then the XRGB-Mini, it's not instant.

The upcoming RetroTink-5x Pro will have instant switching. It can also upscale up to 1440p. It's not out yet but check Twitter for development progress.

Maybe the OSSC Pro might fix the switching. PixelFX, the guys behind N64Digital is also releasing a new upscaler sometime later this year or the next.

But don't get me wrong, the OSSC is still a great upscaler particularly with connecting retro consoles/arcade PCB's to PC CRT monitors.
