Everdrive 64 X7 Won't Load Certain Games

Thank you for the suggestions. I do have an expansion pak installed but I don't have a jumper pak. DK64 and Majora's mask run fine on my console. I ordered a different power supply so that I can see if that changes anything. I don't know anyone else who has a working n64, so I may need to get another n64. My Nintendo 64 is a special edition DK64 model and it is in good shape. The cartridge slot and cartridge have been throughly cleaned.

Is there anything else I can try to fix the problem? I am out of ideas.

Try using Diagnostics. You haven't mentioned about that yet.

Funnily enough, the Japanese version of PD removes the Small-but-Perfect Menu so using the Jumper Pak just gives a black screen with an error message.

I updated to OS v3.0.3 and I also tried using a different power supply but nothing changed. A link to a screenshot of my diagnostics screen is below.

Are your roms PAL or NTSC? Also can you verify that they are know good rips (e.g. no intro)? Still waiting on my x7, so I cannot verify yet!

So with the Japanese version you can't play at all if you don't have the expansion pak present? That's a  strange decision by Nintendo.

Both roms are NTSC and have been verified.

I have another update. I ordered a cartridge slot and replaced it with the one that was in my Nintendo 64. I am still not able to play Conker's Bad Fur Day, Goldeneye, or South Park. I guess I need to buy a new Nintendo 64.

I replaced the motherboard on my Nintendo 64 and all games work now, including the games that I mentioned earlier. Thank you for everyone who helped or gave me advice.

You replaced the whole motherboard? That's basically replacing the N64.

Yeah, pretty much. The only parts I reused were the heatsinks and the screws. At least it was cheaper than buying a different system entirely.

Did you check the capacitors or components with a multimeter on the faulty board?

No I haven't, but I did notice that while playing certain games on my old motherboard, there were some graphical glitches. For example, fire in Banjo Kazooie would display as a bunch of random graphical artifacts instead.

If I were you, I would try get the board inspected with a oscilloscope / thermal-detecting equipment, potentially having the caps replaced and reflow/hot-air the components. I recommend console5.com for the cap replacement kits.

Thank you for the suggestion. I don't have any soldering skills and I'm not sure how to inspect the motherboard. The motherboard appears to be in good condition and I don't see any capacitors that are leaking
