from ODE with both games ran and saved from one file only

Is there anyway to convert save files from the Ever Drive to work in the Omega Definitive Edition?

The X5 uses 'eep', 'srm', and 'fla' in the "SAVE" folder in the GBASYS folder.

While Omega DE uses SAVER folder and uses what it calls "esv" & "sav" files. Don't know if there are other variations, as I haven't tested across all GBA games or various save type options.

just rename them to .sav

Thanks that seems to fix 80% of the problems...

What about games that X5 splits the saves between two different files? Like for example Super Mario 3 Advance seems to have one save for the main game that's in FLA, and the secondary save for the bonus levels saves (that's in SRM). As both files are the 'same name' you can't just rename the extensions....

ODE seems to only make 'one save' for both modes, merging the data into one file.

Is there a way to merge files for games that split saves like this?

Well idk maybe just ignore the arcade mario games on these games?

I'll say it again u need a EZ-Flash Omega Defective Edition to do this

I was able to find the set. But not a sorted one for everdrive. Sorting the files will be very time consuming.

exactly

Title. I don't own an Everdrive yet, but I'm curious. In particular, I'm wondering if a save file for Metroid Fusion on the Everdrive will be accessible in order to to unlock bonuses in Metroid Prime on the GC as, according to the instructions in Prime, the GBA has to enter a special boot mode (by holding START and SELECT before powering on) with a Fusion cartridge inserted in order for the data transfer to work. Has anyone tried this out?

Nope u will need to get a EZ-FLASH OMEGA Definitive Edition for that feature as its the only one on the market that acts as a retail cart

EverDrive GBA / Re: What license is GBAIO released under?

Hello, I'm looking to add GBAIO support to a project, but I can't find a license file anywhere. What license is this published under?

What is GBAIO?

I looked at the features, and it seems like the EZ Flash Omega "Definitive Edition" (or ODE) is like the GBA x5 but with some added features like Dual Mode, DS RAM Expansion, and GBA-to-DS transfers (believe this is used for Gen 3 to Gen 4 Pokemon Games). I don't really intend to use those features.

I mostly play basic games (Marios, side scrollers, RPGs, SNES/NES remakes for GBA) and Pokemon games (so I will need RTC).

Here are the features I do want.

(1) I would like to replace my Everdrive GBx7 with a "GBA Sized Cart" because I play all my GB/GBC games on a GBA SP and the GBx7 sticks out. Both the GBA x5 and ODE say they support GB/GBC games via emulation

However, I am curious if any of these carts support RTC for GB/GBC (particularly Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal) games (maybe via some patching)?

Will Pokemon games be playable using the built in GBA emulator and can you do trades without losing your save?

(2) I would like RTC (berries and time based events in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) and the ability to do GBA to GBA trades (e.g. trade Pokemon on original Pokemon Ruby Cart to/from Pokemon Ruby on a Flash Cart). Is this possible?

I currently use the old white EZ-Flash IV patched with 2.05. Which works pretty well, but no RTC and my battery is running low.

I'm a Krikzz fanboy, so I like to support him whenever I can. Especially when both flash carts are around $100.

I know he said he didn't plan on a GBA x7, but something tells me he is because the ODE is now a competitor. What do you guys think?

(1) replacing a GB Flashcart isnt really a good ideal because the emulation isnt perfect alot games just dont work and there never will be any patching and on that note Crystal will never work on any GBA flashcart because of Goomba and no there will never be another emulator to replace Goomba

(2) GBA to GBA should work even better because u can put the ODE into  single cart mode

I use to play on my EZ Flash Omega and I enjoyed using the GB and GBC emulator. However eventually most save states or save games would become corrupt or erased. So I gave up on trying to play any game that required a save file. I understand Everdrive products are very high quality so I would assume that perhaps their save states and save games would actually work for GB and GBC games. I'd hate to play a game like Pokemon or sink 20 hours into Dragon Quest 3 just to have my file get erased. For the record I own the GB x7 everdrive and the new GBA everdrive. I just simply want to to know if anyone has experience playing a gb/gbc game on the GBA everdrive for a long time and their save remaining intact? I want to play certain games on my Micro at work and only the gba everdrive can do this.

no matter what GBA flashcart u use they all will use Goomba to play GB/GBC games so will have the same results

No Goomba does not support link cable

Thanks Shadow,

OK so thats just the GB/GBC carts that wont work as their emulated. Do GBA games work ok with link cable between the X5 and an original cart?
I guess I'd have to buy EverDrive-GB X3 for GBC games.

if your going to buy a X3 might as well buy the X5 its only $20 more

Regarding: EverDrive-GBA X5 Mini

Can you use the link cable between a GBA running EverDrive-GBA X5 Mini and a gamecube gameboy player running a genuine GBA cartridge?
Can you use the link cable between a GBA running EverDrive-GBA X5 Mini and a gamecube gameboy player running a genuine GB or GBC cartridge?

I want to use the link cable for trading on pokemon games. Was worried that the GB/GBC roms are run on an emulator and can't find any information about if this works with a link cable.

Many thanks,

Tom

Yep, the No-Intro set. I just ordered a new X5-mini and hoping that will solve it for now.

I tried different rom versions of DKC as well. I'm assuming my current cart is just defective. Though I hope putting these Everdrive X5's in the Game Boy Player doesn't shorten the life of it with a voltage incompatibility or something like that, since I notice it crashes way less on a GBA SP.

um there is no voltage incompatibility

EverDrive GBA / Re: Power Draw of Everdrive x5 Mini
« on: March 05, 2021, 07:21 AM »
Hello all:

I recently got the Everdrive x5 Mini, using it on my stock GBA SP (AGS-101) and GameBoy Player.  Most of the time, I've been using it on the latter.  It wasn't until recently where I had been using it a lot on my SP.  I've noticed while using it on my SP, the battery life is quite short.

The battery in my SP is new (Tomee 400 mAH).  After tracking the last 3 charges, my x5 clocked 1.25 hours, 1.17 hours, and 1.18 hours respectively.  Testing a stock GBA game (Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 3), the SP ran for 6.58 hours.

All settings for each trials was the same (default brightness, 50% volume, etc).  In one trial of the x5, I removed the SD after the ROM had loaded up to see if it would impact performance.  That seemed to have no real impact.

I guess what I'm looking for is if the power draw for my Everdrive is considered normal.  Any feedback or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

a stock SP battery is 600mAh so u have a problem

EverDrive GBA / Re: Everdrive X5 Mini Goomba RTC
« on: February 13, 2021, 07:34 AM »
I just got an Everdrive X5 Mini and I'm having trouble getting a definitive answer for this online so I figure I post it here to confirm: is there a way to get the RTC to work with GBC games such as Pokemon Gold on the Goomba emulator?

So far All I see is that the cart is compatible with RTC but I can't get it to work with GBC emulated games. I know the EZFlash Omega could do it so I thought maybe the Everdrive could but I'm not getting results.

When I try to enable RTC for GBC games I can't get it to stay on.

Any info?

No it will never work on the GBA X5 because its not kernel level built in like on the Omega's
