FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Re: SD2SNES skip menu screen and go right to game

Then how would you get back to the menu to untag a rom for auto starting? And even then Why would you want to do this? The SD2SNES already has a quick menu from hitting start that shows the last games you loaded.

I've been wondering. Is it possible to have a custom firmware where you only put 1 game on the SD2SNES and you have it so that there is no menu at all and it just loads that one single game automatically when you power on the system?

Why would I want to do this? Because some people especially collectors who want a cart for each game and they may prefer to have an SD2SNES purely dedicated to just one particular game.

Some of these games use the MSU1 and I think that it would be really be amazing to lets say give my friend an SNES cartridge of a special edition MSU1 audio hack of Super Mario World and when they play it all of a sudden its playing the high quality CD audio and yet the SD2SNES menu never popped up giving it the feeling that it is an authentic game on its own. But really there is an SD2SNES inside that they are unaware of.

I know this sounds wasteful and expensive, but I bet there are people out there who would actually pay and collect cartridges dedicated with certain MSU1 hacks on them just because it would be special to own.

What do you guys think? Is it possible to make a firmware to the SD2SNES where there is no menu and only 1 game just boots up automatically?
Um... I have to say this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. The average price for an SD2SNES is 200 to 250 dollars. That's a lot of money to just throw away for a novelty cart such as what you are describing. It's like buying an ipod for 1 mp3.

Super Castlevania IV has one of the best SNES soundstracks, it's the last game that "needs" a msu1 patch. ^^

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love this game. The first time I beat that game it felt so good.

I am surprised nobody has suggested Super Castlevania IV as a possible MSU-1 hack...

Also, are cutscenes in existing games now possible?

As to Super Castlevania IV...well, I hate that game more than almost any other game.  I can't exactly say I'm holding my breath for an MSU-1 patch for it.

As far as I know, yes, cutscenes are possible.  It would involve hijacking code during an in-game event to call up a video and run the audio with it, and then resuming the normal in-game operations where it had been hijacked.
Ok...why do you hate Super Castlevania IV? That game is fantastic and considered one of the best Castlevania's in the series. I've never heard anyone say they hated it.

I bought mine from Stoneagegamer.com which is a reseller based right in my home state of Ohio in US so it was fast and quick for me to get mine. They are a bit more expensive than Krikzz but that's only if you get the deluxe package which offers a case, a manual, and a custom paint job. Not really worth it unless you just want it to look nice. They do offer a regular one which doesn't come with all that and is cheaper.

EverDrive N8 / New Everdrive N8 Firmware?
« on: July 05, 2015, 06:27 AM »
This has probably been answered before if so I apologize. I was just wondering if anyone knows when a new firmware is coming out for the Everdrive N8 or if krikzz has like a place where he posts updates to progress or anything like that? Just curious. Anyway thank you for such a wonderful product.

There is an updated patch that fixes the music issue. http://1drv.ms/1L4aE0G This is a shortened link to the authors onedrive upload of it. Use the patch labeled sd2snes.

Awesome. Works perfectly. Thanks for the link!
No problem. I had the same issue so I talked about it to the author on zeldix.net where it was posted and he was awesome enough to fix it.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / SD2SNES Question regarding special chips.
« on: October 20, 2013, 08:25 PM »
I recently ordered an SD2SNES Flash cart from retrogate and I understand how it works except for one aspect of it. How exactly does it emulate the special chips and is the emulation of the chips as close to the original games or how good is it? For example games like Mega Man X3 use the CX4. Will Mega Man X3 look and function the same as the real thing? Same goes for the other games that use special chips. Thank you for your time.
