Custom Wallpaper

The requirements for your replacement image are that its dimensions are 640x480, saved as a .BMP, and uses 16-bit colours.
Once you have an image that meets those requirements, just drag and drop it into your ED64 folder.
Then the next time you are in your Everdrive menu, you would go into the ED64 folder, find this image, and Press the A-Button on it.
The Everdrive 64 would then ask you if you want it set it as the wallpaper. You would of course Press the A-Button.

Anyone know of a good way to convert an image to 16-bit without the image looking like it's made of Play-Doh? I'm using GIMP and Paint here.

Here you go (copied and pasted from the help thread at http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5489.0 which has some very good tips for Everdrive 64 users)

"Problem: Can't create wallpapers (background pictures for the menu screen) that work on the Everdrive 64

To use a background image (in the Everdrive 64, at least) you need to use a 640 x 480 bitmap file (.bmp) with 16 bit depth. The problem is, I couldn't find a program that would create or convert a .bmp file to 16 bit, but I finally got it to work using a freeware program called Easy Graphic Converter, from

http://www.etrusoft.com/graphic-converter/index.htm

Note that I've not tried the 320 x 240 screen mode of the official Everdrive OS or Saturn's OS, so I don't know if 320 x 240 images need the same treatment (I'd imagine that they probably do)."

with photoshop (any version)  is very easy, Just adjust the size  640 *480, then you put in "save as" and select bmp format in 16 bits

:(  i have  the everdrive X7 i have tried numerous converters from JPG PNG to BMP they never worked i tried grabbing a 640x480 of Links congratulations ending screen convert it from JPG to BMP it did not work at all the Easy graphics converter does not work all it does is give you a option if you want to report it and turns into a text Document which is stupid. If some one could post a tutorial of how i can change my wallpaper theme on the ED64 X7 and i  did update my OS on my ED64 X7. Please help because i would love to have Link's Congrats theme on my ED64 wallpaper.

Sorry, I don't have an X7, so I can't check what does or doesn't work, and I know that for some reason the native X7 OS (v3.*)seems to have different requirements for the wallpaper, such as not currently supporting 640 x 480 resolution. If instead you use the last version of the earlier OS (v2.13, from http://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-64/v2x-v3x/os-bin/) then you can use 640 x 480 wallpapers, plus you avoid some bugs that were introduced in the v3.* OS.

I'm pretty sure several people with X7 models are using v2.13, to avoid the bugs in the v3.* files. No one has said that they had problems running v2.13

no X7 cant read OS 2.xx at all

bugs of OS 3.0x affect ED64 2.5 and 3.0 users only

not X5 and X7 users

I own 3 different ED64 models

Oh, OK. I could have sworn people with X7 models had posted about using v2.13, my mistake.
