Mega EverDrive / Re: Why no compressed ROM files?
« on: December 23, 2020, 12:03 PM »
For everdrive with a CPLD, maybe that a CPLD based file decompressor could be possible and fast ?
Anyway a CHD decompressor for CDs and a zip decompressor for roms would be awesome on MEDPro!

Maybe it'll interest people not reading other parts of the forum ;)

Here's a small status update.

Is sa1 being worked on?
- Yes.

Is it going to fit?
- Maybe.  We won't know until it's further along.

Is msu going to fit?
- Assume no, but we won't know until it's done.  It doesn't fit right now.

What about supporting multiple files with different features?
- I'm not interested in supporting this, but the code will have #defines for those who want to compile a version for themselves.

What currently works?
- smrpg has been played through to the end.
- kirby super star has several hours on it.
- super mario legacy and the other sa1 smw hacks are playable.
- Most other games boot, but have limited testing.
- A small set of hacks and games don't work at all.
- All games have bugs.

Will there be a beta?
- Yes.

When will the beta be released?
- ...

When will it be done?
- ...

Most of the sa1 features are implemented, but it's difficult to fit both the debugging code and all the features at the same time.  The debugging code is a huge help for fixing bugs.  I'm currently rewriting major parts to both free up some space and also fix slowdowns.

I just got my Mega Everdrive X7 to play on my Nomad ... I did the SMS mod on it so I have no problem playing SMS games but when using the YM2413 with some Japanese games that supports it, I simply have no sound ... Are there some additional wires to connect to have a luck to hear FM sound ? I’m a bit disappointed as I mainly ordered a X7 to enjoy this feature !
Edit : Ok there are some additional components and wires to solder :

I've never been so happy to own a SD2SNES :) Thanks a lot Redguy for the FPGA GSU implementation and thanks to everyone else who made this possible ;)

Thanks borti4938 for your work !
Could C1 be retrieve from one of the caps to remove (like C347/C348 for example), or there are no capacitor with the right value and do I have to order a 0.1uF capacitor ?
Edit : I got a 0.1uF capacitor so I don't need the answer but if anyone can answer, it could be useful for some other people ;)
