EverDrive N8 / Everdrive N8 capacitor values??
« on: May 18, 2018, 11:24 AM »
Hi there, can anyone give me some sort of map of caps on Everdrive N8 FC edition?? My PCB is v1.1 14.12.12. After exchanging caps from another working EDN8 it finally started to boot up, so I want to buy new caps and exchange them all. What are the values there?? As far as I could guess and measure the majority of them are 100nF filtering caps (the small ones). I can see the tantalum caps have 106A (correct??) marking on them. Any more details?? Thanks for all in advance

EverDrive N8 / Will my Everdrive N8 live ever again??
« on: November 24, 2017, 05:55 PM »
Hi there, I want to describe my problem- my Everdrive N8 started to make strange things recently. It glitched at random moments and once I ran diagnostic test, it reported SRAM error. I replaced the SRAM chip, even 2 different SRAM chips and there was still SRAM error. After that I resoldered all Everdrive chips and after that it worked but only sometimes. Sometimes it still didn't work and sometimes threw different errors. After I tried to resolder everything 1 more time it seems there was probably some shortage accidentally and after I tried to resolder it one more time, it stopped working completely. The LED doesn't even power up on it... It is 100% original Everdrive N8 that I bought from KrikZZ shop a few years ago. So, the only thing I can do is buy all Everdrive chips and install them or buy another Everdrive?? Is this possible to buy chips only from KrikZZ maybe?? How about replacing new FPGA chips only?? I'd be grateful to try to repair it in any way as the board still looks good. I will not post a picture this time since everything looks normal on the PCB now. Please for help. Thanks in advance!

EverDrive 64 / Why are 90% of Super Mario 64 hacks not working??
« on: November 24, 2016, 10:42 PM »
I checked many Super Mario 64 hacks and I'm so disappointed about their compatibility. Almost none of them work and those that do, they have almost nothing changed besides from Mario himself and some basic level design change. Other 40% have massive glitches and the other 50% don't work at all. Is there any specific reason for this?? They seem to work on emulators just fine and they are the same ROM files for N64. Just in case, is there/will be any fix for this?? I already tried Mario ED64 patcher found somewhere here in this forum and that almost didn't help at all. I'd love to try some of those awesome Super Mario 64 hacks on the real hardware!!

EverDrive N8 / Transceiver in ED-N8 part number
« on: November 04, 2016, 04:47 PM »
Hi there!! Once I was desoldering Everdrive N8 since it was glitching due to cold soldering, I accidentally damaged one of the transceivers located on the bottom. It says LVTH162245 but I'd like to know the exact part number so I can buy it separately and hopefully repair my N8. I suppose it is probably SN74LVTH162245DGGR but I want some confirmation to be absolutely sure. Maybe Krikzz will answer my question?? Many thanks in advance!!

EverDrive N8 / SRAM ERROR 01
« on: September 15, 2016, 11:56 PM »
Hi there. My Everdrive N8 recently died unfortunately. First of all, I purchased it directly from Krikzz shop website a few years ago so it is original. I remember a few instances when it freezed a game for no reason and once I did SELECT+START+B+A test, it threw SRAM ERROR but after a while, for some reason SRAM test passed OK and it played games again.

Not after some time when I wanted to play my Everdrive, it constantly gave SRAM ERROR on test screen and it doesn't work at all.

I've received 10x new SRAM chips that are exactly the same, IS62LV1024-55H and soldered it on the board. Strangely enough it gives SRAM TEST ERROR as well. At first, it was SRAM TEST ERROR 03 but after some tries, it gave SRAM TEST ERROR 01 (I don't know what the difference is anyway). So after that, I changed the SRAM chip again and it gave SRAM TEST ERROR 01 again, so I really doubt it is actually SRAM chip issue at all. But if not that, so what is?? Can anyone give me any suggestions what's going on?? Can my Everdrive be repaired anymore?? Please for help and response. Many thanks in advance!!

EverDrive MD / Sega CD BIOS file on cartridge problem
« on: November 13, 2015, 01:00 AM »
This isn't quite exactly the issue about the Everdrive but rather the overall idea about Sega CD BIOS loading. I tried to write the multiregion BIOS file to my regular EPROM cart and it always freezes on the main screen. Tried it several times and the result is always the same. Shouldn't the cartridge be somehow configured in order to make it work?? How does the Everdrive achieve this??

My setup is Sega Genesis model 2 (NTSC-US) + Sega CD model 2 (NTSC-US) and I try to write the multiregion BIOS file for model 2 USA version with swapbyte. Many thanks for any advices!!

EverDrive N8 / New mappers in OS v12 v13 don't work
« on: October 23, 2015, 04:00 PM »
I just updated software on my Everdrive to OS13, I replaced the entire EDFC folder and while I try to run Lagrange Point (mapper 85) or Super Mario World (mapper 90), I get error A4 "mapper not supported" every time. I tried downgrading to OS v12 and the same thing happens, I also tried using 2 different SDHC cards and still no luck.... What is going on??

EverDrive 64 / Nintendo 64 cartridge read protocol
« on: October 09, 2015, 12:46 AM »
There is barely any information about that on the internet and still I am totally confused about that.... How exactly does the N64 read cartridges?? How exactly does it send and receive data from the cartridge?? Any kind of description/documentation?? I know there is Everdrive 64 so this means Krikzz managed to recreate the cartridge ;) . But I still don't know even to this day how the cartridge exactly works and I am very curious what is behind it

EverDrive 64 / Cannot get Everdrive 64 v2 to boot
« on: September 12, 2015, 10:31 PM »
I've been using Everdrive 64 (ver.2) for about 1-2 years and it was working fine when I used it on PAL console (so ED64 had PAL CIC). After that I got an NTSC console so I soldered in NTSC CIC into ED64 (NUS-6102). Now all I get is "file not found" error and it asks me to put OS to SD card. Even though I put the newest OS on the cart (ED64 folder into root) and still doesn't work..... I didn't call cards "ED64" either. Tried about 5 SD cards and formatted them multiple times and still no effect, still bootloader doesn't find OS files......

Any suggestions?? Many thanks in advance!!

EverDrive 64 / NTSC games on PAL-high pitch sound??
« on: March 28, 2014, 12:02 AM »
Hey there, I've received my Everdrive 64 today and I'm so happy about it ;) . But I've come across 1 issue- since I live in Europe (Poland) I play on a PAL console with PAL Everdrive 64. When I play PAL games on it, everything works like a charm but when I play NTSC games, the sound is pretty strange. EVen though the games work also perfectly fine with no problems, the sound is a little high-pitched, to describe it easier "it sounds too happy than it supposed to be". Does anyone else have the same problem?? Is it fixable?? My Nintendo 64 is the newer revision, clear black to be exact. Please for some suggestions. Thanks in advance!!

EverDrive 64 / ED64 out of stock??
« on: March 12, 2014, 12:11 PM »
Maybe it's not that appropriate to begin a new topic like that here but anyways- when will Everdrives 64 be in stock again?? I'd like to buy exactly 10 of them but there's only 1 right now. Can't wait to buy and finally use them ;)

EverDrive N8 / Little correction-nesos v.8
« on: November 22, 2013, 11:51 PM »
I found out there's something wrong with the file. I mean, there's nothing wrong with the files but they should be stored in EDFC folder. Some new users may be confused that the soft doesn't work since the files should be located in that folder, a little error but still

EverDrive N8 / Differences between USB and no-USB versions
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:25 PM »
I always wondered what the exact differences are between these 2?? What can the USB version do what no-USB version can't do?? Is USB ED useful for programmers only?? What about update features like software or BIOS update?? Are they still available for no-USB version?? Detailed replies will be so appreciated!!

EverDrive N8 / Glitches in games on EverDrive N8-general
« on: September 22, 2013, 09:01 PM »
I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been any topic like that so far, so that's why I want to start it. As the topic says, write here about the problems/glitches in games you came across while playing them on ED N8. But you need to be 100% sure that this is the problem with ED itself, not with your console nor the rom!! So here we go:

1.Many Camerica games (Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy, Micro Machines, Ultimate Stuntman etc.): many of these games show glitched graphics like there are some mirroring problems and some of them just crash/freeze at random moments. Fortunately, when you change mapper to mapper 2 in headers, most of the games work just perfectly fine but still, there's some problem with mapper 71 (Camerica) implemented

2.Minna no Nakayoshi Daisakusen: doesn't work at all, all it shows is a gray screen (tested on 3-5 consoles, the same effect)

3.Wai Wai World: there appears to be some more mirroring issues but only in the Twin Bee/Gradius level near the end of the game. You can see it in the demo of the game

@Krikzz: would you please make this topic sticky?? I guess this would make things much more convenient if everybody reports any bugs here so all the issues will be kept in one place. Thanks in advance!!
