FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Firmware v1.10.0 + 1.10.1 are out.
« on: March 01, 2019, 08:38 AM »

 * add S-DD1 support by magno
 * initial firmware release for sd2snes Mk.III ("sd2snes pro")
 * fixes:
   - fix memory corruption on BS-X loading
   - reset S-RTC read state on all load and reset occasions

 * fix bug preventing boot on sd2snes Mk.III...

My Everdrive 64 v3 has F9, F0, FA, C2 errors with the card on the right, but works with the microSD and adapter on the left.
Moreover, using a different microsd->sdhc adapter with the card on the left results in FA error sometimes, so a bad adapter is also a factor.
The card on the right works perfectly fine in the SD2SNES, and it reports the cards are the same model.
The "bad" SD cards on the right work perfectly fine on other devices and card readers, so why would they not in the ed64?

Another new high quality high speed SDHC card which doesn't work no matter what I tried.

I think KRIKzz and his team should invest some time and fix this properly and permanently.
The EDN64 has a powerful FPGA like the SD2SNES and should be as stable as the sd2snes.
This problem can be solved with a new firmware OS update (no hardware revision required), and I hope KRIKzz addresses it soon.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / CX4 Timing
« on: April 14, 2018, 01:13 PM »
Apparently the timing of the CX4 implementation changes if "in-game hookk" is enabled or disabled.

This can be easily seen on Megaman X2 demo where X almost wins the big robot boss on real cartridge and when "in-game hook" is enabled with CX4 speed=normal.
When "in-game hook" is disabled megaman dies in the battle against the big robot in the demo sequence, so CX4 is more accurate with in-game hook ON speed=normal, which is counter intuitive.

In short:
hooks:on, cx4 speed:normal  = x almost wins (like cartridge Jap/US).
hooks:on, cx4 speed:fast = x dies.
hooks:off, cx4 speed:normal = x dies.
hooks:off, cx4 speed:fast = x dies.

How it should end:

Tested on 2chip, 1chip, Super NT.

On HiGan and Snes9x, megaman always dies.
European Megaman X2 and PAL SNES, megaman always dies (all sd2snes configurations).

EverDrive 64 / Firmware Update?

Is there a way to update the firmware (not OS) of a V3?

Off Topic / Youtubers, Collecting, and Flashcarts.
« on: December 16, 2017, 07:58 AM »
First, thanks to Krikrzz and Ikari for letting the community play the original games on the original hardware without buying the super overpriced cartridges.
We all know that the overexposed retro scene has driven the cartridges prices over the roof, yet the people that overexposed retro gaming like Youtubers still promote cartridges and collecting but not Flashcarts.
If you ask me, there is no reason to collect cartridges if there is a flashcart to play them all, because I see the true value of a product and don't attach a false "HAVING" value on something, but I do see the value in playing on the original hardware.

I hear from Youtubers like MetalJesus and others "Rare this, Collectible that" which clearly shoots the prices up just by saying that on a video.
Also, I never see youtubers promote Flashcarts, but always "hard to find, rare, and collectible" original cartridges.
Why don't they promote flashcarts really? I assume they are aware they exist.

EverDrive 64 / 5 seconds to boot after Power-On?
« on: December 15, 2017, 12:33 PM »
I'm new to the N64 and Everdrive 64.
Is it normal for the N64+ED64 to boot after 5 seconds of black screen? Seems quite long in comparison to the SNES and Genesis which are instantaneous.
Almost had a heart attack when I booted it first time yesterday.

Also, there is a typo in the cheat menu, it says DiSSable.  ;)

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / So... v1.8, is it comming or what?
« on: December 08, 2017, 04:13 PM »
Ikari, please tell us you did not lose interest in developing for this project.
The Cheat Menu is calling... I'm the type of retro gamer who likes invincibility, infinity lives and power, in all games.  ;D

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / SD2SNES Instruction Manual?
« on: November 03, 2017, 07:08 AM »
What's the difference between "In-game hook" and "In-game buttons" ?
Some functions like "Initial holdoff" cannot be found even with a google search.
