Mega EverDrive X5 ROM file size does not make sense
« on: December 21, 2020, 05:27 AM »
I looked at the specs listed on Krikzz website about the maximum ROM file size that can be used. It doesn't makes any sense to me. Krikzz states that the maximum ROM file size for the X5 is 56Bit (7megabyte) & but I can load no bigger than a 4megabyte ROM for some reason. Why can't I run 7megabyte ROM file sizes like Krikzz says you clearly can right on his own website? Is my replacement X5 flash cart faulty too? I listed a screenshot of the info from his website for reference.

Is there an error message that says that the file is too large? Otherwise it might be a bad rom.

BTW this is the Master Everdrive forum, not Everdrive MD.

Yes, I get an error message saying the ROM file size is too large. Any ROM file larger than 5MegaBit says the ROM file is too large but how is this when the maximum ROM size allowed is 7MegaBit? Nothing wrong with the ROM's I use as there from the Smokemonster Pack from October 2020 that no one else has problems with. I have a Mega EverDrive X5 Flash cart not a EverDrive MD Flash cart if you actually read my comment, you have known that.

I am trying to load any game that is over 5Megabytes & under 7Megabytes but nothing runs & only get an error message saying the ROM file size is too large. I do not have any social media accounts & stay far away from that seen, so contacting Krikzz on Twitter is not going to be an option. Krikkzz is the owner of this web site is he not? So he will be able to answer the question with in a few hours time if he is the owner.

Krikzz pops in here sporadically yes and he does reply from time to time but it is far from instant and far from a few hours usually

I sent KRIKzz a private message through the forum when I was having issues with my Super Everdrive. It took a couple weeks but he did write back with a solution to the problem (and made the solution available to everyone!). I don't think he reads through all the messages on the forum but he does read his private messages. You could try reaching out to him that way.

How do you send a private message to Krikzz to ask a question?

You can find his username by searching for it under "members" on the top navigation bar. From there you can send a message from his profile or through the message button under his user icon on any forum posts.
