Only some ROMs work
« on: April 10, 2021, 08:57 PM »
Hi,

I have everdrive 64 X7 and standard N64 PAL console with Composite video out. Watching on 10 yrs old Panasonic led TV.
I put many different ROMs on my card, some .n64, some .z64 and .v64.
But only a few I can normally play. All NTCS ROMs (no matter what extension) work but picture is jumping all around I guess this is due to synch problem since my console is PAL. That is clear.
On the other side majority on (E) ROMs cannot be played. I got black screen, before that red screen that last for half second.

It seems strange that all this ROMs are bad? Is there something else going on here?
How can I play all (E) roms?

One more question, just ordered Tim Worthington RGB mod. After installing that, I'll be able to play NTSC ROMs (via OSSC), right?

Thanks!

The jumping picture is probably just your TV not supporting PAL-60.
Wtih RGB mod you should be able to play them if the mod, OSSC and TV all works like they should. They can have their own sets of problems though. For example, some video equipment doesn't like when the resolution is switched around which some games do.

The (E) ROMs not working could be bad ROMs. Yes all of them could be bad. Try no-intro ROMs instead, they are tried and should be fine as long as the hashes are fine.

Yes, you are right. I had bad ROMs from some torrent. After some help from very nice people here now I got good (E) ROMs and it work as it should!
Hope I'll receive my RGB mod quick, so I can enjoy plying. Composite is the worst solution. I have tried to get my hands on Ultra HDMI but no luck, I cannot wait anymore.
I'm able to install Ultra HDMI myself, but no chance getting a kit for under 400 USD on ebay. At least as far as I know.
