NeverDrive:
Will NTSC N64 games on EverDrive 64 allow a PAL N64 to output 60Hz, or does a PAL N64 require modification in order to do so?

The games decide the speed they will run at so you will get 60 Hz with NTSC games even on your PAL console.

NeverDrive:
Just to be perfectly clear: this would mean a PAL N64 is capable of outputting a 60Hz signal without any modification just like the NTSC variants?

krisk77:
It can but slightly out of spec, due to the clock crystal, as it won't run at the correct native NTSC frequency.  Ideally, you want a native NTSC system or a DFO mod, so the latter can toggle the correct HZ for PAL & NTSC.

If you're planning to play NTSC titles on a PAL unit I wouldn't worry about them running slightly off spec, especially if you're playing directly on a CRT. I spent years doing this (running JPN carts on a PAL N64 via a Passport III adaptor) before getting an NTSC unit and Everdrive, and it was pretty sweet watching the machine reboot into full screen and (damn near) full speed mode.

EDIT: Our NTSC brethren will never quite understand the horrors of unoptimised 50hz letterboxed games we had to endure. It's proper 'Nam flashback material for some of us.
