@ Krikzz. GBA X7 planned?
« on: December 27, 2020, 09:33 PM »
Krikzz,

Do you plan on making a GBA X7/Pro cart with savestates and cheats etc?
If so, any idea when such a thing would be finished? 2021? 2022?

Thank you.

If I X7 Pro came out I wonder if it could fit a bigger SD card holder and no longer a micro SD one that fits into a small gap, the good ol SD2SNES era and Super Everdrive ones were the most reliable and easiest to use. A big flaw with the EDGB line is the card is too tiny to keep getting out I'd love one that pokes out of the bottom even if it did look a bit jarring.

You're weird, my mother has forbidden me to hang out with you from now on.

Pretty much no one but you would want the sd card to stick out. "regular" sd cards have basically been phased out except for digital cameras by now and those are usually triple the price of micro sd cards so I can't see switching to plain sd cards being a smart choice for multiple reasons.

Besides that, how often do you take out the microSD currently? My sd cards rarely leave the flash cards at all.

Yeah I don't see the point of it sticking out of a handheld console. For larger cartridges I don't mind the normal SD card size. Micro SD cards can still be used with a common adapter. If you are doing development or do other testing you will be removing the card often (unless you use USB).

The main problem I have with all EDGB and EDGBA is that they won't work with things like the N64 Transfer Pak, GBA-DS linking and GBA-GC linking in some cases.

At least for the past couple of days nearly every single time I made a SNES game work on the GBA X5 the card itself is all faded got marks from my nails and is really manky now, the problem is if you found a new rom pack you would have to keep pushing it down to get it out of the spring holder so it comes out. The problem is it's really difficult to keep doing it each time you want to add a new hack or normal rom to the device, a much easier one where it just ejects when you push it down like how the SD2 did would be the best.

Is that a real thing?

Aha! I just looked and it sounds promising.
Thanks for the heads up.

I love my Omega, but the occasional save corruption is beginning to irritate.

Oh it has all the things we've been missing! It has a mode where it acts like a normal cartridge without the menu, so that GBA-DS linking works. That should fix the problem with GBA-GC linking as well. Just hope that it doesn't have the quality problems the current Omega seems to have with save corruption.

Hell ya, it has all the dream features I've wanted, and asked for. Short of 'motion' control/sun sensor (there is another company that sells those kind of flashcarts if someone needs it for something like Boktai translation)...
